Palworld 1.0 Early Game: The Ultimate Cheat Sheet to Snowball Your Start

Palworld 1.0 overhauls the early game, so if you have been away since early access you are basically playing a new game. Here are the fastest ways to snowball your start: the new combat controls, the right stat points, a broken ore base, free raid pals, and the Black Market.

The 1.0 launch completely overhauls Palworld's early game. If you have been away since early access, you are effectively starting a new game: reworked passives, a real main story, new controls, and a pile of quiet quality-of-life changes that make the first few hours feel very different.

RageGamingVideos put together a sharp breakdown of the fastest ways to settle in and snowball your start. We have turned it into a scannable cheat sheet and wired each tip to the relevant PalMods tool or guide. Work through these in order and your first session will fly.

Force Your Pals to Target the Right Enemy#

Combat targeting is no longer pure RNG. While you are aiming, press X on controller (right stick by default) or the bind on PC to lock your active pal onto a specific enemy instead of whatever it feels like hitting. Since you can no longer throw a sphere to designate a target, this is the way to focus down a priority threat.

Spend Your First Stat Points on Stamina and Work Speed#

Early stat points matter more than late ones, because the first point in any stat is the biggest relative jump. Here is exactly what each one gives you at the start:

Dump your first few points into Stamina (you use it for everything), then push Work Speed to around 250 to 300 once you start building, since tier-1 handiwork pals are painfully slow. Save Health for when you start tackling sealed realms and bosses.

Catch a Daedream for Stress-Free Captures#

Daedream spawns right in the starting area, and its reworked partner skill is basically a built-in False Swipe: while it follows you dealing chip damage, it will never drop an enemy below 1 HP. That means you can wail on a target and hold it at its most catchable state with zero risk of accidentally killing it.

Catch 5, Not 12 (and Farm Mimog Effigies)#

The capture XP milestone got much friendlier: you now only need 5 of a species for the full bonus instead of 12. Hitting that milestone also drops a brand new Mimog Effigy, and turning those in at the Statue of Power grants a permanent, scaling movement-speed buff. Grab them early so the speed compounds over your whole playthrough.

Grab Puppery Before the First Tower#

Puppery is a new, extremely cute ground-type pal that spawns in the starting area, and its partner skill boosts your melee damage just by riding along in your party. Since every craftable starter weapon is melee, that is a flat damage bonus exactly when you need it, and a ground type hard-counters the electric pal the first Syndicate Tower boss throws at you.

Always Enter Every Dungeon#

Dungeon layouts were streamlined, and the payoff for poking your head in went way up.

Even the normal ones are worth it for the big palium and sulfur nodes, lotuses for stat potions, and cave mushrooms. While you are exploring, climb the new watchtowers (grapple, a flying pal, or a glider pal like Hangyu) to clear map fog and reveal nearby bosses and fast-travel points.

Never Pay the Negotiator#

Five minutes before a base raid, a new NPC called the Negotiator shows up and offers to cancel it for gold.

Best of all, early raids love to send Direhowl, one of the fastest early ground mounts in the game. Catch one, build its saddle at level 9, and you have a wolf-shaped sports car. Full raid mechanics are in the Base and Raid Rework, and mount options in the mounts guide.

Build the God-Tier Ore Base at the Desolate Church#

Ore is the single biggest early bottleneck, and you do not unlock automated ore mining until your mid-20s. There is a broken spot that fixes it immediately.

Fast travel to the Desolate Church and look right behind it: a cluster of about eight copper ore nodes packed tight, all inside base range. Drop a Palbox in the middle, add beds, a hot spring, and food, and assign mining and transport pals.

To mine ore nodes automatically you need a pal with **Mining Level 2**, and the easiest early one is @pal(penking), the boss in the sealed realm right beside the first tower. Raid the Black Market for Early Mining Pals#

Track down the shady Black Market vendors as soon as you can. They sell high-level, out-of-region pals, and here is the trick: even though a purchased pal scales down to your level, its raw work suitabilities do not. That means you can buy a Tombat with Mining Level 3 hours before the game intends you to have one.

A Few More Early Quick Wins#

Small stuff that adds up fast:

  • Set up a feed bag immediately. Dump your berry pile in and it auto-feeds you and your pals, ending hunger micromanagement.
  • Actually do the side quests. Talk to every human. One early delivery quest pays out cheeseburgers, a short +20% attack buff perfect for a tough fight.
  • Hatch every large egg. Once the first tower unlocks the incubator, hatch large eggs on sight. People are pulling Mammorest from grassy eggs in the starting area, well above what you could catch there.
  • Hack the tech towers. The bright, night-visible towers hide a simple connect-the-path minigame that rewards accessory schematics.
  • Toggle auto-run (default X on PC) so you can steer mounts with your aim and leave the throttle on.

That is the fast track through Palworld 1.0's new early game. Your first-session priorities, in order:

  • Rebind and learn command-pal targeting
  • Put your first points into Stamina, then Work Speed
  • Catch a Daedream for safe captures
  • Catch 5 of everything and bank Mimog Effigies
  • Claim the Desolate Church ore base and beat Penking
  • Let raids happen and catch a Direhowl
