Two patches hold almost every Cryolinx

Cryolinx has 38 mapped points and 36 of them fall in two adjacent Astral Mountains hotspots. It runs on two spawner groups there at 14.18 and 13.25 percent of the roll, so it is a regular sight rather than a rarity, and the cave under the same mountain can field it as an alpha boss.

The route
1Wear cold gear before you flyThe Astral Mountains apply constant cold damage. A Cold Resistant outfit and hot food matter more here than the sphere tier, because the environment is what ends most runs.Astral Mountains, main island
2Work the two patches at [-274, 549] and [-243, 477]They cover the two spawner groups Cryolinx runs on and they sit close enough to cycle. Clearing one and walking to the other rerolls both tables faster than waiting on either.36 of 38 points, two groups
3Bring Fire damageCryolinx is pure Ice, so Fire is the only element with a bonus against it. A Fire Pal also thaws the fight faster than a ranged weapon at this level band.Ice, weak to Fire
4Throw Giga Spheres and hold your party backLevels 44 to 49 want Giga tier. Set the party to passive before the last chunk of health, because a Fire Pal will finish an Ice one faster than you expect.Overkill loses the catch
5Try the cave if the surface will not cooperateThe Astral Mountains Cavern boss table has 28 entries at equal weight and one of them is a Cryolinx, alpha flagged at levels 42 to 45. 15 of the 170 mapped dungeon portals lead to that cave.1 of 28 boss entries, alpha

An alpha in the Astral Mountains Cavern

The cave boss room can field a Cryolinx at levels 42 to 45, flagged alpha. Its table holds 28 entries at equal weight, so call it 1 in 28 per cave, and 15 of the 170 mapped portals lead there.

The cheapest is Grizzbolt with Ragnahawk at about level 32, which the cost model rates 12 levels below the wild band. Both parents are mid-game catches themselves, so the saving is smaller than the number looks. Breed for a chosen level or passive set.

The Astral Mountains rare pool on the Large Frozen Egg carries 14 outcomes and Cryolinx is one of them, so it is a bonus rather than a plan. Pick eggs up while you hunt instead of farming them.

VariantSeparate
Cryolinx Terra

The Ground variant is Paldeck 132B and lives on Feybreak at levels 62 to 64 with a field boss of its own. It trades Cooling for Mining 5 and Lumbering 6. Catching one does not fill this slot, and a Cryolinx is one of its two parents.

Paldeck 132 and 132BIce and GroundHow to get Cryolinx Terra
Cryolinx has no field boss anywhere on the surface map. The alpha you may have heard about is the Astral Mountains Cavern boss slot, which is a dungeon spawn and not a fixed encounter on the surface map.
Its drop table is a single line, Ice Organ 1 to 3, so this is a Pal you catch for its skills rather than farm for materials. The 40 percent Dragon Hunter drop boost is the real payoff.
Dragon Hunter says "does not stack", which means a second Cryolinx in the same party adds nothing. One in the party is the whole build.
Why bother
Cryolinx is the Dragon farmer. Its partner skill, Dragon Hunter, makes every Dragon Pal you defeat drop 40 percent more items while it is in the party, which turns Dragon boss farming into a materials run. It also works four jobs at once: Lumbering 4, Cooling 4, Transporting 4 and Handiwork 3.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where do you find Cryolinx in Palworld 1.0?

The Astral Mountains on the main island, at [-274, 549] and [-243, 477]. Those two patches hold 36 of its 38 mapped points at levels 44 to 49.

What do I need to catch one?

Level 44 or so, a Cold Resistant outfit, Fire damage and Giga Spheres. The mountain cold is the real threat, not the Pal, and most failed runs end from environmental damage.

Is there an alpha or boss Cryolinx?

Not on the surface map. There is no field boss for it, but the Astral Mountains Cavern boss room can field one at levels 42 to 45 flagged alpha, as 1 of the 28 equal weight entries on that table.

What does Dragon Hunter actually do?

While Cryolinx is in your party, Dragon element Pals drop 40 percent more items when defeated. It does not stack, so one Cryolinx is the full benefit no matter how many you carry.

Is Cryolinx Terra the same Pal?

No. Cryolinx is Ice at Paldeck 132 with Cooling 4, Cryolinx Terra is Ground at 132B with Mining 5 and Lumbering 6, and it lives on Feybreak instead. They fill different Paldeck slots.
