How to Get Foxcicle

Fight the level 15 alpha at [242, -332] by the Fortress Ruins. Every wild Foxcicle is level 30 or higher and lives behind a cold gear trip, so this one fight saves you both.

The level 15 alpha, and the snow where the rest live

The alpha pin is the route. The heat behind it is the wild population, which starts fifteen levels higher and sits in the cold, and is worth the trip only if you want a Foxcicle that is already strong.

The route
1Walk to [242, -332] by the Fortress RuinsThe alpha stands on the starting plains, inside the ground you clear in the first few hours. No cold gear, no mount and no trip into the Astral Mountains is needed to reach it.Lv 15, 1 field boss in the game
2Bring Fire and nothing else mattersFoxcicle is pure Ice, so a single Fire Pal covers the whole fight. At level 15 an alpha has enough health to survive a few volleys, which is what you want because you have to catch it rather than kill it.Weak to Fire, single element
3Throw once the health bar is low, not beforeAn alpha carries a capture penalty, so a full health throw is wasted. Bring Mega Spheres rather than basic ones: this is a level 15 boss, not a level 15 wild Pal.Alpha, so expect several throws
4Put it on a cooler the moment you landCooling 4 at level 15 is the point of this route. It is enough to run a refrigerator line on its own, and Farming 3 behind it covers a berry plantation in the same slot.Cooling 4, Farming 3
5If it kills you, it comes backField bosses respawn on a server restart, so a failed attempt costs the spheres and the walk. There is only this one fight, so there is no second alpha to try instead.Respawns on restart

A hundred and eighty seven points in the cold

The wild list is generous and it is all level 30 to 37, in the Astral Mountains and the Sakurajima wetlands. Worth the trip only for a higher starting level, and only to the northern patch: the shares there run to 19 percent against 7.9 percent further south.

Large Frozen Egg, and the sanctuary pool is the good one

The sanctuary route pool holds five outcomes and gives Foxcicle 40.65 percent of it, more than twice what the Astral Mountains rare pool manages across its fourteen. Worth knowing which nest an egg came from.

Two hundred and six pairs, all dearer than the alpha

The pair list is long and its cheapest entry still costs about level 20, five levels above the alpha and with a farm and a cake on top. Breed one to set passives, not to reach the Pal.

The shares here are selection weights, not observed catch rates. They are why the two 40 point patches on the map are not equal: one draws on a 19 percent group and the other on a 7.9 percent group.
There is exactly one Foxcicle field boss. If someone tells you about a second alpha in the mountains, no such alpha exists.
Cooling 4 at level 15 is well ahead of the curve. Most players meet their first Cooling 3 Pal a good deal later, so this alpha is worth taking on the way past even if you do not want the Pal itself.
Why bother
Aurora Guide raises the Attack of every Ice Pal in your party by 15 percent, which is the cheapest Ice damage buff in the game at this point in a run. Read the "does not stack" note carefully: a second Foxcicle adds nothing. On a base it is Cooling 4 with Farming 3, and it sometimes drops an extra Ice Organ while assigned to a Ranch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where do you find Foxcicle in Palworld 1.0?

The level 15 alpha stands at [242, -332] by the Fortress Ruins on the starting plains. Wild ones sit across 187 mapped points in the Astral Mountains and the Sakurajima wetlands at levels 30 to 37.

What is the lowest level Foxcicle you can get?

Level 15, from the field boss. There is no wild Foxcicle below level 30 anywhere, and the cheapest breeding pair still costs about level 20.

How do you beat the Foxcicle alpha?

Bring one Fire Pal, since Foxcicle is single element Ice. Wear the health bar down before throwing, because an alpha carries a capture penalty, and bring Mega Spheres rather than basic ones.

Which egg hatches a Foxcicle?

Large Frozen Eggs. The sanctuary route pool is much the better of the two at 40.65 percent across five outcomes, against 18.25 percent across fourteen in the Astral Mountains rare pool.

Is Foxcicle worth catching?

Yes, mainly for Cooling 4 that early. In the party its Aurora Guide adds 15 percent Attack to your Ice Pals, though a second Foxcicle adds nothing because the effect does not stack with itself.
