Mimog: Location, Breeding and Drops

Look for a treasure chest sitting in the open where no chest belongs. Mimog has 4,924 mapped points from level 10, but under 2 percent of any spawner roll, so spotting it beats hunting it.

Everywhere Mimog can appear, which is not the same as where it is

These {points} points cover 93 separate spawner groups across the whole main island. Mimog holds under 2 percent of the roll in every one of them, so read this map as coverage rather than as density. Two hundred and twenty six of those points are the Sunreach sky islands, and a separate 785 sit in the World Tree region, neither shown here as pins.

1Learn what it looks like before you go lookingMimog sits perfectly still disguised as a treasure chest. The tell is placement: a chest beside a road, a rock or a ruin where the game would not normally put loot. Approach or hit it and it bolts at speed.Passive until touched, then it runs

A Large Common Egg with one possible result

The World Tree pool on a Large Common Egg has an outcome count of one, and that outcome is Mimog. Not a good chance, the only chance: if the egg rolls that pool it is a Mimog every time. The Huge Common Egg carries it too, but only as an alpha entry at 0.96 percent of seven results.

BreedingBlocked
Mimog cannot be bred

Mimog is not breedable, and the only pair that produces one is Mimog with Mimog, which needs the Pal you are trying to get. No cross-species combination exists anywhere in the 288, so a Breeding Farm cannot help you here.

No boss, no raid, no camp, no dungeon

Zero field bosses, zero raid tiers, zero quest defeat encounters, zero camp squads and zero dungeon spawns. For a Pal with 5,935 mapped points in total, that is a remarkably empty sheet, and it is why the wild list and the one egg pool carry the whole page.

226 points up in Sunreach, 785 in the World Tree

226 Sunreach points sit at levels 65 to 67, part of the main island total rather than an addition to it, and 785 World Tree points at levels 70 to 80 are separate. The World Tree groups are its best odds anywhere, up to 3.08 percent on a four Pal table, which is still low but is more than three times the main island median.

The 4,924 main island points are coverage, not density. They sit on 93 spawner groups and Mimog is 1.91 percent of the best of them and 0.83 percent of the median, so the map tells you where one can appear and almost nothing about how long you will wait.
Its best odds in the game are in the World Tree region, where the four Pal group worldtree_9_03_C gives it 3.08 percent. Still low, and still more than three times its main island median.
Why bother
Master of Unlocking lets Mimog open treasure chests without spending a key while it is fighting alongside you, which pays for itself the first time you find a locked chest without the key. It also drops 1,000 to 2,000 Gold Coin and 14 to 21 Dog Coin on every catch, plus a Training Manual (XL) at 20 percent, so it is one of the better money drops in the game.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where does Mimog spawn in Palworld 1.0?

Almost everywhere. 4,924 mapped points cover 93 spawner groups on the main island from level 10, 226 of them up in Sunreach, and a further 785 points sit in the World Tree region. The densest patches are the central plains at [45, -187] and the Deep Bamboo Thicket at [-213, -152].

Why can I never find a Mimog if it spawns everywhere?

Because it takes under 2 percent of the roll in every one of its 93 main island spawner groups, with a median of 0.83 percent. The points say where it can appear, and the weights say it usually will not.

How do you catch a Mimog before it runs?

Build four walls around it while it is still disguised as a chest, then attack. Once it is hit it bolts at high speed, so the box has to be finished before the first shot.

Can you breed a Mimog?

No. Mimog is not breedable, and the only pair producing one is Mimog with Mimog. There is no cross-species combination for it anywhere in the game.

Is there a guaranteed way to get a Mimog?

One. The World Tree pool on a Large Common Egg contains exactly one possible result and it is Mimog, so any egg that rolls that pool hatches into one.
