How to Breed Needoll

Put a Direhowl and a Sweepa in a Breeding Farm. Both live in the same south-western corner of the map at levels 6 and 11, against a wild Needoll at level 31.

Where to find the two parents

Needoll is the child, so the map shows the trip you actually make. The heat is every mapped Direhowl point, with the level 11 Sweepa alpha pinned beside the Direhowl patch that rolls best.

The route
1Catch a Direhowl at [-259, -602]The south-western coastal group is where Direhowl carries 20.7 percent of the spawner weight. Levels 6 to 14, so a basic Pal Sphere is enough and a fight is optional.86 points, 20.7 percent share
2Fight the level 11 Sweepa alpha at [-227, -593]It is one grid square north of the Direhowl patch, so both parents come from one trip. Sweepa is pure Ice, so bring Fire, and it is the only Sweepa in the game below level 25.Lv 11, the only Sweepa alpha
3Build a Breeding Farm and bake a CakeThe Cake recipe itself costs no technology point, but it will not bake without a Cooking Pot, which is technology 17. With both parents caught at 6 and 11, the kitchen and then the farm at 19 are the entire climb between the pair and the egg.Cooking Pot at 17, farm at 19
4Put the pair in togetherDirehowl with Sweepa gives Needoll every time. A hundred and eighty eight pairs land on it in total, but this is the cheapest one whose parents are both easy to actually find.188 pairs, this one costs Lv 11
5Hatch it and put it on a plantationPlanting 3 and Gathering 3 arrive at whatever level you bred for instead of at 31, which is the entire point of taking this route rather than crossing the desert.Planting 3 and Gathering 3

Scouring Islet has the best odds in the game

Thirteen points on the small western islet where Needoll is 50 of 75 selection weight, 66.7 percent, sharing the ground with only Digtoise. The level 40 alpha stands on the same islet, so one flight covers both.

The desert population, and why it rolls badly

Three hundred and twenty five of the 366 points sit in one desert spawner group where Needoll is 100 of 1,410 weight, 7.1 percent. It looks like the obvious place because it is the biggest, and it is the worst of the three.

The level 40 alpha at [433, -711]

One field boss, on Scouring Islet, at level 40. That is 4 levels above the top of the wild band, and it is standing on the same 66.7 percent ground as the islet spawns.

No egg hatches a Needoll

No egg pool contains Needoll, on any egg tier including the Verdant ones. Grass Pals usually have at least one nest pool, so this is worth knowing before you stockpile eggs for it.

The densest ground has the worst odds, twice over on this page. Needoll is 7.1 percent of the 325 point desert group and 66.7 percent of the 13 point islet group, and Direhowl is 1.1 percent in its 120 point patch against 20.7 percent in its 86 point one. These are selection weights, not observed drop rates.
Needoll appears in no egg pool at all. Breeding, the desert and the islet are the whole list, which is unusual for a rarity 2 Grass Pal.
Hug Me Please only does anything against a target already carrying Ivy-Covered. Needoll Noct is the Pal that applies it, so the two are a deliberate pair rather than a duplicate.
Why bother
Needoll is a Planting 3 and Gathering 3 worker at rarity 2, which is an unusually cheap way to staff a plantation. Its Hug Me Please skill adds 50 percent damage against anything already suffering Ivy-Covered, so it pairs directly with Needoll Noct, whose skill is what applies that status in the first place.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What two Pals make Needoll?

A hundred and eighty eight pairs work. The cheapest practical one is Direhowl with Sweepa, since Direhowl is a level 6 catch and Sweepa has a guaranteed level 11 alpha one grid square away from it.

Where does Needoll spawn in Palworld 1.0?

On 366 mapped points, at levels 31 to 36. Three hundred and twenty five of them are in the Desiccated Dunes, 28 around the oasis, and 13 on Scouring Islet in the west.

Where are the best Needoll spawn odds?

Scouring Islet, where Needoll is 50 of 75 selection weight against Digtoise and nothing else. That is 66.7 percent, against 7.1 percent in the desert group that holds nine times as many points.

Which egg hatches a Needoll?

None. No egg pool contains Needoll at any tier, so a Verdant Egg run will never produce one no matter how many you hatch.

What does Needoll actually do in the party?

Its skill adds 50 percent damage to enemies already suffering Ivy-Covered, and it does nothing at all otherwise. Bring Needoll Noct alongside it, since that variant is what inflicts the status.
