The one Ophydia on real ground

A single level 69 field boss on the Sunreach sky islands, in the gorge system above the Waterlily Gorge label. There are no Ophydia spawn points anywhere on the main island, so this pin is the whole map.

The route
1Get into Sunreach, then fly to [-590, -1478]The boss sits in the water system the map labels Waterlily Gorge, on the southwestern side of Sunreach.Sunreach, one field boss
2Bring Fire, and Electric as backupOphydia is Grass and Water, so two elements get a bonus against it and Fire is the one that punishes the Grass half hardest. A team with neither will spend a long time on a level 69 health bar.Grass and Water, weak to Fire and Electric
3Expect Soak, and keep movingIts own partner skill applies Soak, and the fight leans on water pressure rather than burst. Nothing here one-shots you at 69, but standing still in the gorge is how the attempt gets long enough to run out of ammunition.Rarity 9, no raid tier behind it
4Throw Legendary Spheres, and put the party on passiveLevel 69 is Legendary Sphere territory. Take the bar well under half, then stop your own Pals attacking, because an alpha you overkill is an hour of flying wasted.Overkill loses the catch
5Lose it and come straight backField bosses respawn on server restart, or roughly an hour on a solo world. Nothing is consumed by failing, which is what makes this cheaper in practice than a pair that eats two boss catches and a Cake first. No cake, no slab, no consumed item

316 pairs, and every cheap one runs through Lyleen Noct

The only route where you choose the level, since the boss is pinned at 69. Read the cheap end carefully though: the two pairs that reach level 58 are Lyleen with Lyleen Noct and Knocklem with Lyleen Noct, and Lyleen Noct has exactly one encounter in the game, a level 58 field boss on Sakurajima. Two alpha catches and a Cake to skip one alpha catch is a trade worth doing only for the passives.

No egg in the game hatches an Ophydia

No egg hatches an Ophydia, including the Huge Verdant Egg. That egg's World Tree pool holds five outcomes and the two at 47.85 percent are other Pals, with Lyleen taking one of them. Picking up Verdant eggs will not produce an Ophydia at any rate.

The 21 World Tree points are a lottery ticket

Ophydia has 21 spawn points at level 80 in the World Tree. All 21 sit on one aura spawner shared by 72 Pals at equal weight, so a roll there is 1 in 72 and 71 other Pals share the same coordinates. There is nowhere in that region to stand and wait for one.

1 in 72 per roll72 Pals, one tableLevel 80Show this boss on the map
The fight is in Sunreach, above the Waterlily Gorge area label. A widely copied coordinate lists it as [-590, -1483]; the boss actually stands at [-590, -1478].
Ophydia has no raid tier, no camp squad, no quest step and no dungeon encounter. The alpha and the breeding farm are the entire list, which is unusual for a rarity 9 Pal and worth knowing before you go hunting for a shortcut.
Its drop table is a World Tree table: Ancient Relics at every grade plus a Grass Radiant Gem. Those are what an Ophydia gives, not what the Sunreach fight specifically pays out.
Why bother
Ophydia is a rideable Grass and Water Pal with Planting level 7, a number only Dandilord beats in the whole game, and Watering level 5 on top of it, so one Pal runs an entire farm plot. Its partner skill Glorious Mist makes your own attacks apply Soak 2 while it is in the party. Each one drops 4 to 5 High Quality Pal Oil and 10 to 20 Grass Radiant Gem.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where is Ophydia in Palworld 1.0?

One level 69 field boss at [-590, -1478] in Sunreach, in the gorge above the Waterlily Gorge area label. There is no other Ophydia you can walk up to.

What do I need to beat the Ophydia alpha?

Level 60 or so, a firearm you trust, and Legendary Spheres. Ophydia is Grass and Water, so bring Fire for the Grass half and Electric for the Water half rather than raw damage.

Can you hatch an Ophydia from a Huge Verdant Egg?

No. Ophydia is not in any egg pool of any size or element. The Huge Verdant Egg is a Lyleen pool, and the two outcomes at 47.85 percent in it are not this Pal.

Does Ophydia spawn in the World Tree?

Only on paper. The 21 points at level 80 sit on one aura spawner shared by 72 Pals at equal weight, so each roll is 1 in 72, and Blazamut and Renjishi spawn at the same coordinates. It is not a place to hunt.

Is Ophydia worth keeping after the fight?

For a farm, yes. Planting 7 is beaten only by Dandilord in the whole roster, and Watering 5 on the same Pal means one slot covers seeding and watering on a plantation.
