How to Breed Roujay

Put Blazamut and Menasting Terra in a Breeding Farm at around level 48. The wild Roujay population is World Tree only at levels 74 to 78, so the farm saves a whole act of progression.

Where to find the two parents

Menasting Terra and Blazamut breed into Roujay. This map draws Menasting Terra, the harder of the two at level 48, and pins Blazamut separately. Neither is a World Tree Pal, which is the whole point of taking this route.

Roujay holds 44.05 percent of the roll on worldtree_9_03_C with 33 points and 34.97 percent on worldtree_9_13_M with 47 more, at levels 74 to 78. Those are among the friendliest shares on this site. Large Dark Egg, 1 in 7 among eight outcomes

The World Tree pool on the Large Dark Egg holds eight outcomes and Roujay is one of them at 14.22 percent. The Huge Dark Egg carries it at 1.32 percent among eleven, and that version hatches as an alpha. Both are World Tree route eggs, so this helps a player already in the region rather than one trying to skip it.

No field boss anywhere, not even in the World Tree

Roujay has zero field bosses, zero raid tiers, zero quest steps, zero camp squads and zero dungeon spawns. Several of its World Tree neighbours have an alpha to fall back on. This one does not, so the only guaranteed Roujay in the game is a hatched one.

◆The Large Dark Egg looks like the obvious pick for this Pal, but that egg only drops on World Tree routes, so it is not the shortcut it looks like: if you can pick one up you could already walk to the 80 wild points. Breeding is the route that works before the region opens.
◆The 44.05 and 34.97 percent shares here are selection weights, not observed drop rates. They describe what fraction of a roll Roujay holds on its table, which is why it is worth naming the table rather than the point count.
◆Roujay is flagged nocturnal, but neither of its World Tree spawn summaries carries a night restriction, so the tag is behaviour rather than a spawn window. Do not wait for dark on the strength of it.
Why bother
Roujay is a Dark flying mount whose partner skill, Dark-Nester, raises the damage you and your Pals deal to anything suffering Blind by 50 percent. That pairs directly with Venusa, whose own partner skill applies Blind 2 to your attacks. It also works Gathering 5 and Transporting 5, and drops 1 to 2 Ruby with 3 to 4 Leather.

What is the cheapest Roujay breeding pair?

Blazamut with Menasting Terra, at about level 48. Both parents have main island wild points and a guaranteed field boss, so neither half of the pair is a rare gate.

Is Roujay rare in the World Tree?

No, and that is unusual for the region. It takes 44.05 percent of the roll on its best spawner table and 34.97 percent on the other. Once you are in there, it is one of the easier catches.

Is there a Roujay alpha to fight instead?

There is not. Roujay has no field boss, no raid tier, no quest boss step and no dungeon spawn. A hatched egg is the only guaranteed Roujay in the game.

What does Dark-Nester actually do?

It raises the damage you and your Pals deal to enemies afflicted with Blind by 50 percent while Roujay is in the party. Venusa applies Blind 2 through its own partner skill, so the two are built to be run together.
