How to Breed Snugloo

Breed a Herbil with a Munchill. Both are early Pals, so you can own a Snugloo from the moment the Breeding Farm unlocks rather than waiting for the level 32 mountain spawns.

Where to find the two parents

Snugloo is the child here, so this map covers the pair. Munchill carries the heat because it is the harder half, and it is the more interesting one: 6 of its 28 mapped points sit on a spawner with only Munchill on the table, so those points always give you one.

The route
1Catch a Herbil in the bambooHerbil has 269 mapped points and its lowest band is level 1, with 121 points in one thicket. This is the half of the pair you can do on your first afternoon.269 points, lowest band 1
2Catch a Munchill on the snow lineOnly 28 mapped points, but 6 of them run a spawner with Munchill as the only Pal on the table, so those points are a guaranteed roll. It is also fishable from medium ponds if the walk goes badly.6 points at 100 percent of the roll
3Unlock the Breeding Farm and bake a CakeThe farm is the real gate on this route, not the parents. One Cake per egg, and the Cake chain needs a Ranch, a Mill and a Wheat Plantation behind it.The farm is the gate, not the pair
4Put Herbil and Munchill in together198 pairs in the game produce a Snugloo, and this is the cheapest of them by a wide margin. Several others tie on level but need a Mimog, which is a far longer search than either of these two.198 pairs, this one is cheapest
5Hatch it and put it in the party for stealthInvisible Eye reduces the chance that enemies notice you while Snugloo is in the party, which is worth more on a Sealed Realm approach or a camp raid than its four base jobs are.Handiwork 2, Mining 3, Cooling 3

21 points in the Frostbound Mountains

There are 21 mapped points at levels 32 to 34 in two clusters, on a six Pal table where Snugloo holds 19.74 percent of the roll. Kitsun leads that table at 32.89 percent, so expect to see one of those first.

Frozen Egg, sanctuary pool

The sanctuary route pool on the plain Frozen Egg has only 2 outcomes and Snugloo is the heavier of them. That is one of the better small egg pools in the game, so open rather than bank them.

No boss, no variant, no raid

There is no field boss, raid tier, quest, camp squad, dungeon spawn or regional variant for Snugloo. It is the rare Pal with exactly two ways in.

Its drop table carries World Tree Holy Water, an Ice Radiant Gem and all five Ancient Relic tiers, which is endgame material on a level 32 Pal. Those lines describe what a Snugloo can give, not where it lives.
Munchill is the parent people get stuck on because 28 mapped points sounds hopeless. It is not: 6 of those points run a single Pal spawner, so a roll there is a Munchill every time. It also appears in medium fish ponds at levels 16 to 26.
Several other pairs tie Herbil and Munchill on parent level but include Mimog, which holds under 2 percent of the roll in all 93 of its main island groups. Those are not equivalent options.
Why bother
Snugloo is a cheap four job body, Cooling 3 and Mining 3 with Handiwork and Transporting behind them, at rarity 3. Its partner skill, Invisible Eye, lowers the chance of enemies detecting you while it is in the party, which makes it a stealth passenger rather than a fighter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest pair for a Snugloo?

Herbil and Munchill. 198 pairs produce one, and this is the only cheap pair whose parents are both easy to find: Herbil is level 1 with 269 points, Munchill has 6 points where it is the only Pal on the table.

Where do you find Snugloo in the wild?

The Frostbound Mountains at [218, 59] and [167, 56], 21 mapped points in total at levels 32 to 34. It holds 19.74 percent of that spawn table.

Do I need to be level 32 to get a Snugloo?

Only if you catch one. Breeding puts it within reach as soon as the Breeding Farm technology unlocks, because both parents are catchable long before that.

Which egg hatches a Snugloo?

The plain Frozen Egg, on its sanctuary route pool, which carries just 2 outcomes. The Large Frozen Egg version of that pool has 5 outcomes and gives the alpha variant instead.

Is Snugloo worth keeping?

As a base worker it is ordinary, three jobs at level 3 or below plus Transporting. The reason to carry one is Invisible Eye, which lowers the chance of enemies spotting you while it rides in the party.
