Where to find the two parents

Valentail is the child here, and the parents are the point: Arsox and Vaelet both live on the starting half of the main island, which is why this route beats a level 63 sky island hunt so heavily.

The route
1Catch an Arsox in the low teensIt has 136 mapped points from level 14 and a level 15 alpha at [-116, -491]. Water damage handles it. This is the easier half of the pair and it is available almost as soon as you can craft spheres.136 points, from level 14
2Catch a VaeletWild from level 20 across 32 mapped points, with a level 27 alpha at [-19, -265]. It is Grass, so Fire ends it quickly, and Arsox is already Fire.32 points, from level 20
3Build a Breeding Farm and bake a CakeOne Cake per egg. At this stage that is the expensive part of the whole route, so get a Ranch producing milk, eggs and wool before you start rather than after. One Cake per egg
4Check the calculator before catching anything977 pairs produce a Valentail, which is one of the widest lists in the game. Two Pals already in your box very probably make one, and this route does not care which two.977 pairs produce one

One Sunreach meadow, at level 63

Every wild Valentail sits in one sky island meadow, where it takes 100 of the 219 group weight and shares the table with Snock at the same share. The odds are excellent and the level is not: 63 to 65, behind Sunreach access, for a rarity 2 Pal.

Common Egg from the Sky Islands

The Sky Islands Common Egg pool holds only 2 results, so a plain Common Egg picked up in that region is a coin flip. The Large Common Egg entry in the same pool is the alpha version. Both need you to be up there already.

Sunreach Skies cave, boss rank

The Skyland001 Sunreach Skies dungeon fields Valentail on its boss table at levels 63 to 64, and as an alpha at 65 to 69. It is 1 of 7 entries at equal weight there, so about one roll in seven, and it needs the same Sunreach access the surface meadow does.

Every wild Valentail stands in one Sunreach sky island meadow, 33 mapped points on a single spawner group. The Sunreach islands sit inside the main island map rather than beside it, so there is no second patch anywhere.
The model rates Mimog with Penking as the cheapest pair at about level 15. This page recommends Arsox with Vaelet at 20 instead, because Mimog holds at most 1.91 percent of the roll in all 93 of its main island spawner groups. A pair is only as cheap as the parent you can actually find.
Valentail is rarity 2 and its only wild home is endgame content. If you want the low gravity effect early, breeding is not the convenient option, it is the only realistic one.
Why bother
Big Stretch reduces the effect of gravity on the player while Valentail is in the party, so you jump higher and fall slower. It is a traversal skill on a rarity 2 Pal, which is why people go looking for one long before they can reach where it lives. Its work value is Gathering 2, and it drops Leather.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the easiest breeding combination for Valentail?

Arsox with Vaelet, both catchable on the main island in the 20s. 977 pairs produce one in total, so whatever two mid tier Pals you already own probably work. Check the calculator before catching anything new.

Where does Valentail spawn in Palworld 1.0?

In one Sunreach sky island meadow, at levels 63 to 65, across 33 mapped points on a single spawner group. That meadow is the only place it lives.

Is Valentail rare in the wild?

Not where it lives. It holds 100 of the 219 weight on its meadow spawner group, tied with Snock, so nearly half of everything that appears there is a Valentail. Getting to the meadow is the hard part.

What does Big Stretch do?

It lowers the effect of gravity on you while Valentail is in the party, so jumps carry further and falls are slower. It does not stack, so one is all you need.

Can you hatch a Valentail?

Yes, from a Common Egg found in the Sky Islands, where the pool has only 2 results. That is good odds, but it means being in Sunreach already, which is exactly what breeding lets you skip.
