Wispaw: Location, Breeding and Drops

Wait for dark on the Golden Hills and catch one at level 11. Wispaw takes a quarter to a half of the roll on every table it sits on, the best share on any of these pages.

Where Wispaw stands, and only after dark

All 159 main island points carry a night restriction, at levels 11 to 12. There is a second population of 22 points in the World Tree at levels 71 to 73, which the map does not draw here and which is not part of this count.

1Go at night, because there is no day optionEvery one of the 159 main island points is flagged night only. Standing on the right ground in daylight is not slow, it is nothing, and the only other population is 60 levels away in the World Tree.159 of 159 points are night restricted
2Fly to [13, -444] and circle the Golden Hills80 of the 159 points sit here. It is also where Tombat spawns, on the same spawner groups, so expect to see both and check the silhouette before you commit a sphere.80 of 159 points
3Bring Dragon damageWispaw is pure Dark and Dragon is the one element with a bonus against it. At level 11 the fight is short with anything, but a Dark Pal of your own will feel noticeably worse here.Dark, weak to Dragon
4Throw a plain Pal Sphere and keep the spareCapture power 7 is right for levels 11 to 12. Catch a second one deliberately: the partner skill only works from a party slot, so the one you send to a base cannot also be the one improving your throws.Capture power 7 is enough
5Put it in the party before you hunt anything elseDeath-Cheating Feline raises capture rate when you land a back bonus, so it makes every other catch on this site slightly cheaper. It does not stack with a second Wispaw, so one in the party is the whole build.Back bonus only, does not stack

22 World Tree points at 27.25 percent

Wispaw has a second genuine population in the World Tree region: 22 points at levels 71 to 73 near the Whimsical Wisteria Grove, on a table it shares with 5 other Pals while holding 100 of the 367 weight. Those points carry no night restriction, unlike every main island point. This is where a high level Wispaw comes from, not where a first one does.

Large Dark Egg, and the tree pool is a different lottery

The Windswept Hills pool of the Large Dark Egg gives Wispaw 31.25 percent among 7 outcomes, which is one of the strongest single-egg odds in the early game. The World Tree pool of the same egg gives it 14.22 percent among 8, so an egg picked up in the tree is a worse bet than one picked up at the start.

No boss, no dungeon, no camp, no fishing

Wispaw has zero field bosses, zero dungeon spawns, zero camp squad entries, zero raid tiers and zero fishing sources. It is one of the few Pals that lives on open ground and in eggs alone, so there is no guaranteed encounter and no alpha to fall back on.

240 pairs, which is more than most Pals in the game

The solver finds 240 pairs that produce a Wispaw, so almost any two Pals you own will eventually get there. It is still a technology 19 farm plus a Cake per egg against a level 11 night walk, so breed one for passives and nothing else.

The night restriction is on the spawn points themselves, not read off the nocturnal tag. All 159 main island points are flagged night only. The 22 World Tree points are not, which is the only place a daylight Wispaw exists.
Its drop list is much richer than a level 11 Pal suggests: 2 Small Pal Souls and Leather every time, World Tree Holy Water and a Ground Radiant Gem at 50 percent, and all five Ancient Relic tiers below that. Read it as what a Wispaw can give, not as what a level 11 one is worth farming.
Wispaw and Tombat sit on the same five spawner groups and record the same 159 coordinates. On every one of those tables Wispaw holds the larger share, so a night spent hunting one of them is not an equal chance at both.
Why bother
Wispaw is a catching tool that catches easily. Death-Cheating Feline raises your capture rate whenever a throw earns the back bonus, and it does not stack, so one in the party is the build. It also drops 2 Small Pal Souls every single time, which is the most reliable early source of them, plus Leather and a long tail of World Tree materials. At a base it covers Handiwork 2 with Lumbering, Medicine Production and Transporting at 1.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where does Wispaw spawn in Palworld 1.0?

On the main island at night, densest at [13, -444] near the Golden Hills with 80 points, then [308, -326] and [320, -243] on Marsh Island. A second population of 22 points sits in the World Tree at levels 71 to 73.

Does Wispaw only spawn at night?

On the main island, yes. All 159 points there carry a night restriction. The 22 World Tree points do not, so that is the only place one appears in daylight.

Why does Wispaw feel so much easier to find than other rare Pals?

Because its worst table is a 1 in 4 roll. It holds 41.67 percent of one spawner group, 46.15 of two small ones, and 27.27 of the largest. Most Pals on this site are arguing about 2 to 7 percent.

Is Wispaw a good Small Pal Soul farm?

It is one of the most reliable early ones. Every Wispaw drops 2 Small Pal Souls at 100 percent, and it is catchable at level 11, so a night on the Golden Hills pays out well before the usual sources open up.

Why do I keep finding Tombat instead of Wispaw?

They share all five spawner groups and the same 159 coordinates. Wispaw holds the larger weight on every one of them, so if you are seeing more Tombat you are unlucky rather than in the wrong place.
