World Tree Holy Water has always been useful and almost always annoying. It solves a problem specific to the World Tree, it was never hard to obtain if you knew where to look, and at 1 weight per unit it punished you for carrying enough of it to matter.
Palworld v1.0.3 fixes the carrying problem outright. Holy Water now weighs 0.1, lasts longer per use, and drops from three sources that never gave it before. The item did not get more powerful. It got practical.
What Holy Water actually does#
This is the part a surprising number of players have wrong, so it is worth stating plainly.
World Tree resources despawn as you approach them. You spot a node, you walk toward it, and it disappears before you arrive. Drinking Holy Water suppresses that behavior for a period of time, so World Tree resources stay put while you close the distance and harvest them.
It is not a damage buff, a gathering speed buff or a drop rate buff. It is the item that makes the World Tree's resources actually collectable, which is why it sits at the center of every serious World Tree farming route.

Everything that changed#
| Change | Detail |
|---|---|
| Weight | Reduced from 1 to 0.1 |
| Duration | Extended, exact length not displayed in game |
| Expeditions | Added to World Tree expedition rewards |
| Fishing | Added to World Tree fishing and the Large Fishing Pond |
| World Tree Pals | Increased yield from Pals in the World Tree area |
| Teafant Spring | Increased yield |
| Audio | New sound effect on use |
Two related bugs were also fixed. The Holy Water effect failed to display correctly on a Pal you were riding when you drank it, and the aura could reappear after the effect had already ended and then refuse to clear near World Tree trees. Both were display problems rather than functional ones, but they made it genuinely hard to tell whether your buff was still active.
The weight cut is the change that matters#
Every other item on that list is a convenience. The weight change is the one that alters how you play.
At 1 weight per unit, a hundred Holy Water cost you a hundred weight, which is a serious fraction of a carry limit you also need for ore, ingots and whatever you went to the World Tree to collect. Most players carried a handful, ran dry mid route, and went home early.
At 0.1, that same hundred costs 10. You can now carry a full farming run's supply and still have room for what you harvest, which turns Holy Water from something you ration into something you simply have.
Nothing about Holy Water got stronger. It just stopped competing with your loot for space in your bag.
Three new places to get it#
Before this patch, Holy Water came from World Tree chests and from Pals in the area. The patch adds three passive sources, and the useful thing about all three is that they run while you are doing something else.
- World Tree expeditions. Send Pals out and Holy Water is now in the reward pool when they return.
- World Tree fishing. It now appears in the World Tree fishing areas.
- The Large Fishing Pond. A base structure, which means a genuinely passive trickle.
On top of that, Pals in the World Tree area and Teafant Spring both yield more than they used to. Combined, the effect is that a stock of Holy Water accumulates in the background rather than requiring a dedicated farming trip.
Do not overlook the Ancient Relic Recycler#
Holy Water is also a speed booster for the Ancient Relic Recycler, where it applies a 1.5x rate to relic conversion.
Because the duration was extended in this patch and the game does not show a countdown, a single Holy Water now carries a recycler through a far longer run than it used to. If you have a backlog of Ancient Relics, load the recycler and check on it later rather than babysitting it.

What to do next#
- Build a Large Fishing Pond if you do not already have one
- Add World Tree expeditions to your standing Pal rotation
- Carry a full stack on your next World Tree run instead of rationing
- Drop a Holy Water into the Ancient Relic Recycler before a long session
For the full picture on what is worth collecting out there, our World Tree guide covers the area's resources, and the Holy Water item page tracks its stats and sources.
The pattern across v1.0.3 is consistent: Pocketpair spent this patch removing friction rather than raising numbers. Holy Water is the clearest example, because the item was already good and the only thing standing between players and using it properly was a weight value.
