Palworld 1.0.4: New Missions, Fishing Changes and Mod Fixes

Two new missions, revised fishing rewards, easier Ancient Bark gathering, and fixes for bases, combat and Steam mod removal. Here is what to check after updating.

Palworld 1.0.4 arrived on September 7, 2026, adding two sub-missions alongside fishing, combat, base-building and stability changes. For modded players, the directly relevant fix is on Steam: mod files that could not be deleted correctly should now be removable. That fix does not establish whether your installed mods work with this patch.

This is a practical summary of Pocketpair's official announcement, with follow-up checks for players and server owners. PalMods has reviewed the notes; we have not independently tested the patch in-game.

Where the new missions begin#

Accept Beyond Dimensions from an NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian. Once you clear it, you can progress From the Far Side of the Moon. The announcement identifies the location and sequence, but does not give coordinates, a recommended level or a reward table.

Mission fixes also matter if you were stuck: the World Tree Guardian should appear in the later main mission even if you defeated Panthalus early. The introductory axe-and-pickaxe objective should recognize tools already owned or equipped when you accept it. Mission-target Pals and NPCs also stop falling asleep.

Fishing rewards and difficulty need a fresh look#

Pocketpair adjusted fishing difficulty in Sunreach and the World Tree, changed how many items each bait yields, and added a World Settings option called Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames. Fishing prompts, warnings and equipment recommendations were also revised.

The patch fixes a crash after a fishing spot disappears, duplicate item slots in the reward display, and unintended Pal catches at some volcanic spots. That last fix means an old catch list may no longer describe every affected location correctly.

The notes do not publish replacement bait quantities or difficulty values. Our fishing hub still uses the 1.0.3 data export for its maps and tables, now with a patch notice. Use it to plan your route, but verify changed rewards and catches in 1.0.4 before treating an old yield estimate as current.

Pals fight differently, and several passives work again#

Summoned and base Pals now favor skills expected to deal more damage. Charging moves, backsteps and Power Bomb's minimum use distance were adjusted. Core Eject Shotgun damage also changed, without a published replacement value or stated direction.

Several fixes affect builds directly:

  • Lucky: its defense bonus should activate correctly.
  • Mercy Hit: its effect should apply to Pal attacks while riding.
  • Killamari Primo: the reversed Partner Skill effects at levels 2 and 3 are corrected.
  • Grintale: extra Mutated Eggs generated by its passive should reflect mutated stat values.
  • Idiosyncratic: the mutation passive's activation issue is fixed.

Arena targeting and revived Pals resuming combat were fixed too. Some raid bosses should again react to damage and summon smaller Pals correctly. These changes make old combat observations worth revisiting, but do not prove a new damage ranking or mutation probability. See our combat overview and mutation guide for the underlying systems.

Bases: material returns, Campfires and building limits#

Canceling a production job now returns its materials to inventory. When canceling construction or dismantling, the option that prevents automatic pickup above your weight limit now leaves only the excess materials at your feet.

Player-built Campfires no longer ignite players, summoned Pals or base Pals on contact. Other base fixes cover respawned trees not receiving logging work, worker assignments failing to reach facilities, and chest permissions not being respected when crafting consumes materials. The Ancient Material Synthesizer also gets collision adjustments and a fix for its work-speed multiplier after resuming a game.

Server owners gain a per-player building limit. Pocketpair's server configuration reference names it MaxBuildingLimitNum and specifies that 0 means unlimited. This is separate from a guild's base-count limit. When building restrictions are enabled, additional protected areas include desert Suzaku, the desert main-mission cave, and some Sakurajima mission locations.

Our base and raids guide now calls out these changes. Ancient Bark gathering also drops to Work Suitability Lv. 1, covered in the work-suitability guide.

World Tree drops, Pal Critic requests and everyday fixes#

Wild Pals in the World Tree had Radiant Gem drops with mismatched or excessively biased elements; that issue is fixed. The announcement does not supply new element-specific probabilities. Lunaris Effigy homing and Lapure's swimming speed were adjusted, also without replacement values.

For Pal Critic requests, bring Dogen to the Sakurajima request instead of Selyne, and Faleris Aqua to the Sunreach request instead of Bastigor. The Echoing Flute can now be dropped from inventory.

The in-game Palpedia gains name search and Work Suitability explanations. PC's default FPS cap becomes 120, PS5 gains radial-menu access to chat, and version-mismatch errors display the target's version. Rendering work and some passive-trigger stutter were reduced. These are reported improvements, not a measured FPS increase from PalMods.

Updating a modded game or server#

Pocketpair explicitly lists a Steam mod-file deletion fix. It does not certify UE4SS, Lua mods, pak mods or any particular PalMods download for 1.0.4. The PalMods catalog's 1.0 compatibility label is a release-family target, not evidence that every file has been tested on this patch.

Our suggested update sequence:

  1. Keep a separate backup of your world and current mod configuration.
  2. Update the game and, where applicable, the dedicated server. Check the versions shown if joining fails.
  3. Read the release notes for your loader and installed mods before changing the loadout.
  4. Test loading, travel, crafting, combat and any mod-specific actions on a backup world.
  5. If something breaks, record the exact game, loader and mod versions when reporting it to the author.

The patch also addresses a server crash when sorting Pals, co-op guild membership, host mission progression triggered by a client, and a persistent crafting display on dedicated servers. Check those workflows if they affected your group.

Sources and verification#

Exact replacement values absent from the notes remain unverified. The site data export is still 1.0.3, and individual mod compatibility has not been tested for this article. Cover artwork is an editorial composition based on Dogen and Faleris Aqua game assets, not a screenshot of a new mission.
