Where to find the two parents

There is no Elgrove Cryst heatmap to show. Its only wild population sits in the World Tree and that payload is not published, so this map does the useful thing instead and pins both parents.

2Fly to the Azure Tapestry for the Pierdon CrystAll 50 mapped Pierdon Cryst points sit on that one sky island at levels 68 to 69. It is pure Ice, so bring Fire, and bring enough of it that the fight does not run long in the cold.Lv 68 to 69, one location
3Bake a Cake and pair themElgrove with Pierdon Cryst is the only cross-species pair in the game that produces one. Gender and order do not matter, and the result is not a roll.100 percent result, no rerolling
4Hatch it and skip the World Tree entirelyThe egg inherits the parents' level and passives, which is the only way to own one of these before you can survive the World Tree at level 75.The wild band starts at 75

Different PalSeparate
Elgrove is a different Pal, and a parent

The base form is Paldeck 81 and pure Grass, with Planting 3 where this one has Cooling 5. Catching one does not fill this slot, but you do need one to make this Pal.

Paldeck 81Grass, not IceRequired parentHow to get Elgrove
Pierdon Cryst is the entire difficulty of this route. Elgrove costs fifteen minutes at level 24, and everything else is a level 68 fight on a sky island.
Both parents can be Ice or Grass, and neither changes the child. Elgrove with Pierdon Cryst gives Elgrove Cryst every time, so there is no reroll to plan around.
Why bother
Elgrove Cryst is a Cooling 5 worker, which is two levels above what the base Elgrove offers in any job, and it keeps Lumbering 3, Mining 3 and Transporting 3 alongside it. Its partner skill lets you freeze any enemy already soaked in a single strike.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What two Pals make Elgrove Cryst?

Elgrove and Pierdon Cryst. That is the only cross-species pair in the game that produces one, and the other listed pair is two Elgrove Cryst, which needs the Pal you are after.

Where does Elgrove Cryst spawn in the wild?

Only in the World Tree region, at levels 75 to 77, clustered near the Abandoned Laboratory. There are 69 points there, but no map can show them.

What level do I need to breed one?

Enough to take a level 68 Pierdon Cryst on the Azure Tapestry sky island. Elgrove is catchable at level 24, so the Ice parent is the entire gate.

What is Elgrove Cryst weak to?

It is pure Ice, not Ice and Grass, so Fire is the single answer. That is the most common mistake here: the base form is Grass and the variant drops that type completely.

Is Elgrove Cryst worth breeding?

For a base, yes. Cooling 5 is a big jump over anything the base form offers, and it still mines and lumbers at level 3, so it is not a single-job Pal.
