Hangyu: Location and How to Get It

Walk the bamboo cluster at [-218, -220], which holds 91 of its 201 points. Hangyu is a minority in every pool it appears in, so the trip works on volume rather than odds.

Two hundred points and no good one

Hangyu turns up across most of the low and mid island. The pins mark the three densest patches, which is the only lever you have, because its weight in every pool is low.

The route
1Walk the bamboo cluster at [-218, -220]Ninety one of the 201 mapped points sit here at levels 18 to 20. It is open hillside, so a single circuit shows you everything that spawned.91 of 201 points
2Expect Cawgnito and Loupmoon insteadBoth carry 150 weight in that pool against Hangyu at 20 out of 371. Keep circling rather than clearing what you find, because clearing the pool does not raise your odds.20 of 371 pool weight
3Throw first, fight secondHangyu is Ground, so Grass is the counter if you need one. You mostly do not: it has no mount seat and no combat role, and a Mega Sphere at full health often lands.Ground, weak to Grass
4Or take the Cavern of the DunesEight Pals share that cavern table and Hangyu is 10 of 80, better than any surface group except the 6 point blue_D patch. Levels 33 to 36 for the normal roll and 37 to 40 for the alpha.Roughly 1 roll in 8
5One is enough, so stop when you have itFlying Trapeze works from the party slot and changes the glider you already have. A second Hangyu adds nothing, and the pool rerolls when you fast travel out and back.Partner skill, not a base job

CavernHighest level one
Cavern of the Dunes alpha

The desert cavern rolls Hangyu three at a time at levels 33 to 36, and as a single alpha at 37 to 40. That alpha is the highest level Hangyu you can catch anywhere, because there is no field boss.

Rocky Egg, either pool

Three of the four Rocky Egg pools for Hangyu are a flat one in three, which is unusually generous. Only the Large Rocky Egg from a marsh or forest route falls off a cliff.

Hangyu Cryst is a different Pal

It fills Paldeck 38B, it is Ice rather than Ground, it works at Handiwork 3 and Transporting 3 against this one at 1 and 2, and it only spawns at night. The glider skill is the same idea in a different coat.

A single Ninja camp

One Ninja camp fields one Hangyu on the first floor. No level is recorded for it, so it is something that shows up during a raid rather than a reason to run one.

Hangyu never carries more than 20 weight in an overworld pool, and its best pools put Cawgnito and Loupmoon at 150. A long dry stretch is the pool behaving normally.
Only 9 of the 201 mapped points sit below level 14, and neither of those two groups has a hotspot dense enough to pin. If you want a low level one, breed it.
There is no field boss Hangyu. The Cavern of the Dunes alpha at levels 37 to 40 is the highest one the game will hand you.
Why bother
Flying Trapeze rewrites the glider you already have and lets you gain height while gliding, which turns a one way descent into travel. That is the reason to own one. At a base it is a Transporting level 2 hauler, and it drops 5 to 10 Fiber plus a Wheat Seed every catch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where does Hangyu spawn in Palworld 1.0?

Across 201 mapped points on the low and mid island. The densest patch by far is the Deep Bamboo Thicket at [-218, -220], which holds 91 of them at levels 18 to 20.

Why can I never find a Hangyu?

Because it is outweighted everywhere. In the bamboo pool it is 20 of 371 against Cawgnito and Loupmoon at 150 each. Its best share anywhere is 10 of 65 on a 6 point patch, and the Cavern of the Dunes table at 10 of 80 is the best one worth walking to.

What does Hangyu actually do?

Flying Trapeze modifies the glider you have equipped and lets you rise while gliding, so a glide becomes travel instead of a controlled fall. At a base it hauls at Transporting level 2.

Is there an Alpha Hangyu?

Not on the overworld map, because it has no field boss. Both the Ravine Grotto at levels 17 to 19 and the Cavern of the Dunes at levels 37 to 40 roll an alpha version.

Should I get Hangyu or Hangyu Cryst?

Cryst is the better worker: Handiwork 3, Transporting 3 and Cooling 2 against Hangyu at Handiwork 1 and Transporting 2. Plain Hangyu is far easier to reach, since Cryst spawns only at night at levels 32 to 40.
