Skip the big patch. The seven points on the Frostbitten Isle ice block are a five Pal pool at levels 10 to 20, against a crowded eleven Pal spawner at levels 20 to 24 everywhere else.

All 70 mapped Jolthog Cryst points. 63 sit in one busy inland spawner and 7 sit on a frozen island. The 7 are lower level and far more likely to actually be a Jolthog Cryst.

Plain Jolthog fills Paldeck 15 and this one fills 15B. It is Electric rather than Ice, generates electricity rather than cooling, and lives at levels 4 to 9 in the Windswept Hills. Catching it leaves this slot empty.
Exactly two pairs make one, and only one of them is a cross-species pair: Jolthog and Pengullet. Both parents are common starter Pals, so this is the route if you want to pick the level.

The marsh and forest route pool on the Frozen Egg has three results, so a third of them work. The Large Frozen Egg is a third from the Windswept pool and under 3 percent from the marsh one, which is a large gap for the same egg.

Where does Jolthog Cryst spawn in Palworld 1.0?
In two places. Sixty two points on inland ground around [-182, -352] at levels 20 to 24, and seven on the Frostbitten Isle ice block at [-65, -969] at levels 10 to 20. The island is the better trip.
Why do I keep finding everything except Jolthog Cryst?
Because the big patch is a crowded spawner. Eleven Pals share it and Jolthog Cryst carries 30 of 803 weight, about one roll in 27. On the Frostbitten Isle island it is 10 of 45, about one in four.
What two Pals make Jolthog Cryst?
Jolthog and Pengullet. That is the only cross-species pair in the game that produces one, and both parents are common early catches, so it is the cheapest way to pick a level.
Is Jolthog Cryst the same as Jolthog?
No. Different Paldeck slot, 15B against 15, different element, and a different base job: Cooling 1 instead of Generating Electricity 1. Its partner skill is Cold Bomb rather than Jolt Bomb.
Is there an Alpha Jolthog Cryst?
No. It has no field boss and no cavern encounter, so the level 24 ceiling on the inland spawner is the highest you can catch.
