How to Breed Whalaska Ignis

Put a Chillet Ignis and a Whalaska in a Breeding Farm at about level 42. The only wild Whalaska Ignis are level 71 to 80 in the World Tree, and even those cannot be mapped.

Where to find the two parents

Whalaska Ignis has no mappable wild points of its own: its whole population is in the World Tree, where spawn locations cannot be plotted. So the map draws the pair that makes one, both of which are on the main island.

1Catch a Chillet Ignis on SakurajimaLevel 40, 67 mapped points, and 20.5 percent of its densest spawner table at [-640, 211]. It is Fire and Dragon, so Water answers one half and Ice the other.20.5 percent of its best table
2Get a Whalaska, from the caverns or the bossThe Astral Mountains cavern table runs levels 42 to 44 and only Polapup competes for the roll. If that comes up empty, the level 55 ocean field boss at [-179, 842] is fixed and respawns. The gate on this route
3Build a Breeding Farm and bake a CakeOne cake per egg. At level 42 the ingredients are routine, so this step is a wait rather than a project. One Cake per egg
4Put the pair in togetherExactly 2 pairs produce a Whalaska Ignis and one of them is the Pal with itself, so Chillet Ignis with Whalaska is the only combination that exists. Order and gender do not matter.2 pairs, 1 usable
5Ride it and put it on a Kindling baseIt is a mount, it works Kindling at 5 and Cooling at 6, and its partner skill raises the fishing capture gauge and overlap progress by 7 percent. Its Ice half is still there, so Water damage hurts it more than you expect.Kindling 5, Cooling 6

43 points, all in the World Tree, none of them mappable

There are 43 mapped points at levels 71 to 80 and a level 74 field boss, and every one of them is in the World Tree region. World Tree spawn locations cannot be plotted, so the count and the levels are known but there is no pin to draw. Breeding reaches the same Pal about 30 levels earlier.

Huge Frozen Egg, and it is the good pool

The World Tree pool of the Huge Frozen Egg gives Whalaska Ignis at 31.2 percent of ten results, which is far above an even share. Worth opening any you find rather than saving them, though the eggs come from the region you were avoiding.

Its fishing spots are rated IMPOSSIBLE

Whalaska Ignis is on both World Tree fishing tables at 94 and 0.4 weight, and every one of those tables is rated IMPOSSIBLE. The one usable fishing line is the base Fishing Pond big shadow table, which lists it at levels 36 to 48 at 0.8 weight, low but not gated behind a region.

Whalaska is a different Paldeck slot

The base Whalaska is Paldeck 151, Ice and Water rather than Ice and Fire, and it works Watering 5 where this one works Kindling 5. Its fishing skill is 5 percent against this one at 7. Catching a Whalaska does not fill this slot, and you need one to breed this Pal.

Paldeck 151 and 151BWhalaska is a parentHow to get Whalaska
Whalaska Ignis keeps its Ice half. It is Ice and Fire, so Water damage hits the Fire half and Fire damage hits the Ice half, and a Fire team is not the safe read the name suggests.
The level 55 boss sometimes named for this Pal is actually the base Whalaska boss at [-179, 842]. The Whalaska Ignis field boss is level 74 and sits in the World Tree.
Its fishing skill does not stack, so pairing it with a base Whalaska in the same party gains nothing beyond the higher of the two values.
Why bother
Whalaska Ignis is the better of the two fishing mounts and the only Pal that works Kindling and Cooling at the same time. Its partner skill starts the fishing minigame with 7 percent more capture gauge and adds 7 percent more progress on overlap, against 5 percent for the base Whalaska.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What two Pals make a Whalaska Ignis?

Chillet Ignis and Whalaska, and that is the only cross-species pair in the game. It prices at about level 42, against level 71 and up for anything wild.

Where does Whalaska Ignis spawn?

The World Tree, and nowhere else. There are 43 mapped points at levels 71 to 80 plus a level 74 field boss there. World Tree spawn locations cannot be plotted, so those points cannot be shown on the map.

Is the Whalaska Ignis boss the level 55 one in the ocean?

No. That is the base Whalaska at [-179, 842]. The Whalaska Ignis field boss is level 74 and it is in the World Tree, which is a very different fight.

Which egg hatches into Whalaska Ignis?

The Huge Frozen Egg, in its World Tree pool, at 31.2 percent of ten results. That is the best egg chance any Pal in this batch has, but the eggs are found in the region you were trying to skip.

Is Whalaska Ignis better than Whalaska for fishing?

Yes, by two percentage points. It starts the minigame with 7 percent more capture gauge and adds 7 percent more overlap progress, against 5 percent each for the base form. Neither stacks with the other.
