The best starter base locations in Palworld 1.0

Updated

Start at the Hill of Beginnings Starter Basin at 230, -486. It is flat, easy to build on, and keeps wood, stone, a small ore cluster, berry bushes and plentiful Paldium within a short walk, with Lamballs and Chikipis nearby for the first capture-and-XP loop. Move to the Mount Flopie Multi-Ore Shelf at 29, -50 when one resource stops being enough, then to the Quartz and Sulfur Farm at 292, -98 when sulfur and pure quartz matter more than ordinary ore.

Why these sites

A first base is a launchpad, not a home. The point of the basin below is to use its easy Paldium circuit to stock early spheres, level quickly and prepare the move to a mixed-ore base, which is exactly the opposite of overbuilding on day one.

Read these three as a sequence rather than a shortlist. Each one answers the bottleneck the previous one leaves you with, and the "when to move on" column is the actual decision point.

The Hill of Beginnings Starter Basin

Windswept Hills · Starter · Level 1

PracticalResource
A first-day basin with flat ground, a waterfall and the basic materials needed to get moving.

The most useful true starter pick in the route, and the one place on this whole family of pages where being unambitious is correct. The open basin is easy to build on and keeps wood, stone, a small ore cluster, berry bushes and plentiful Paldium within a short walk, so nothing about the first few hours involves a long haul. Lamballs and Chikipis nearby make the opening capture-and-XP loop painless. Use that easy Paldium circuit to stock spheres and level, then leave.

The Mount Flopie Multi-Ore Shelf

Mount Flopie · Early–mid game

PracticalResource
The lower shelf mixes quartz, ore and sulfur; the nearby upper hill trades some variety for coal.

The first real upgrade, and the answer to the basin running out of range. The lower shelf combines pure quartz, ore, sulfur and stone on broad buildable ground, which is what makes it a bridge into the middle of the tech tree instead of another single-resource camp. The summit above adds coal and a nearby fast-travel point. Decide which half does the work: base on the lower shelf for sulfur and quartz and hand-mine the coal hill around 18, -87, and only move the Palbox uphill if coal is your immediate bottleneck.

The Quartz & Sulfur Farm

Frostbound Foothills · Midgame

PracticalResource
Seven sulfur nodes and six pure-quartz nodes share a flat valley below the snowy ridge.

A side-grade rather than a straight upgrade, and it exists for one specific moment. The valley holds roughly seven sulfur nodes, six pure-quartz nodes and one ore node, with stone and wood around the perimeter, so it is a specialist site for the point where those two materials gate your crafting. It is also warmer and easier to work than the old mountaintop quartz farms. There is no meaningful coal in the footprint, so pair it with the Mount Flopie hill or a coal quarry once one is available.

Where this route goes next

The progression continues past the midgame into oil, Hexolite and a quarry-fed headquarters. The endgame page covers those four sites and how to split the roles between them.
