The flattest, easiest base locations in Palworld 1.0

Updated

The Soralite Ore Peak at 583, 144 is the best flat site in the game for a large build: huge open ground with natural Soralite ore clusters and a peak rising at the north end for a tiered look. If you want flat ground with a water feature, the Crystal Pool Paradise at -540, -1361 is dead flat and wide open, and the Lava Flow Shelf at 788, 457 offers a flat central shelf on the new Flame Pulse Island.

Why these sites

Flat ground is the cheapest quality of life a base location can give you. Every hour you do not spend levelling terrain, cutting foundations into slope or discovering that half your build radius is unusable is an hour spent on the base itself.

These five sites are the ones where the ground does the work for you. The table lists what is actually in the way at each, because "flat" rarely means "empty": pre-built ruins, ore nodes and lava flows are all obstacles until you decide to design around them.

Every location in detail

01

The Soralite Ore Peak

Sunreach · Easy build

Resource
Soralite ore clusters dot the open ground on the climb up to the peak.

The site to pick when you want to raise a proper town. It is huge, flat and open, which is the rare combination that lets a build keep growing without ever hitting a slope, and the terrain rises into a striking peak toward the north end so the layout can be tiered instead of uniformly level. Natural Soralite ore clusters sit on the open ground, though they are a bonus rather than the reason to come: the Soralite quarry unlocks fast enough that camping the nodes is optional.

The Lava Flow Shelf

Flame Pulse Island · Easy build

ResourceAesthetic
Flame Pulse Island's central shelf, with natural lava flows to build around.

The flattest ground on one of the new 1.0 islands, and highly workable across the whole shelf. What separates it from the other easy sites is that the obstacle is worth keeping: pushing the build toward the edge lets you fold natural lava flows into the design rather than paving over them. The island has a hidden world boss, but the shelf sits far enough away that it will never wander in.

The Half-Made Village

Sunreach · Easy build

Aesthetic
Pre-built walls and structures frame the half-made village, pool and waterfalls included.

Flat in the most useful sense: a level, open wheat field where the only things standing on it are pre-built structures you would want to keep anyway. That makes it the easiest site here to lay out quickly, because the ruins, natural walls, pools and stone bridge already suggest where the streets go. You are editing a layout rather than drawing one.

The Crystal Pool Paradise

Sunreach · Easy build

AestheticAquatic
The crystallized pool at -540, -1361: shallow enough to drop foundations straight in.

Dead flat and wide open, with a shallow pool sitting in the middle of it that takes foundations directly. That is why it belongs on an easy-build list and not only a scenic one: the water is not an obstacle to terrace around, it is more buildable surface. The one placement constraint is the Jetragon world boss in the pool, which means keeping the footprint to one side rather than centring on the water.

The Sakurajima Oil Works

Sakurajima · Late game

PracticalResource
Two oil wells sit on a flat Sakurajima shelf with sulfur, coal, stone and a World Tree view.

Wide and level rather than perfectly flat, and the site where the order of operations matters most. Foundation the uneven patches first and place the Palbox on the finished platform, because doing it the other way leaves part of the build radius as slope you cannot use. Get that right and you have a large level footprint carrying two oil wells alongside stone, sulfur and coal.

Flat ground is not the whole decision

Four of these five sites earn their place on other pages too: the Crystal Pool Paradise, the Half-Made Village and the Lava Flow Shelf are on the scenic list, and the Sakurajima Oil Works is the production base of the endgame network. If flat ground is your only requirement, start at the Soralite Ore Peak: it is the one site here that earns its spot on flat ground alone.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the flattest base location in Palworld 1.0?

The Soralite Ore Peak at 583, 144 in Sunreach. It offers huge flat, open ground with natural Soralite ore clusters, and the terrain rises into a peak at the north end if you want a tiered layout.

Why should you place foundations before the Palbox?

On uneven sites such as the Sakurajima Oil Works, foundationing the uneven patches first and then placing the Palbox on the finished platform keeps the full build radius clean and usable instead of leaving part of it as unusable slope.

Is there a flat base location with water?

The Crystal Pool Paradise at -540, -1361. The ground is dead flat and wide open and the shallow crystallized pool takes foundations directly, so the water adds buildable surface rather than costing you any.
