Lily and Lyleen Hard Counter

Updated

Two rotating Iron Guardian Modes, up to 150% of bullet stacks and a 30% Water damage cut for the tower built to drown Fire carries.

Lily and Lyleen hard mode is advertised by its element and won by distrusting the advertisement. The boss card says Grass, level 74, 494,000 HP, five minutes, and the obvious answer is any Fire carry you own. Hard mode is built to punish exactly that: the attack set carries three Water moves, led by the 600-power Geyser Gush, aimed at the Fire Pal every guide tells you to bring. This party keeps the Fire answer and armors it. Two Knocklem Ignis rotate Iron Guardian Mode so a buffed carry is on the field for the whole fight, Finsider Ignis adds 25% to 40% Fire damage on every weakness hit, Orserk converts your bullets into as much as 150% Attack and Defense on the active carry, and Snock Terra cuts the Water counterplay by up to 30% while blocking Soak outright. It is not the highest-damage sheet for this tower. It is the one that survives its own mistakes.

The encounter

Lily and Lyleen, Hard Mode

The fight the tower design aims at Fire parties. Level 74, 494,000 HP, five minutes, two Free Pal Alliance minions in the opening seconds, and a boss whose card reads Grass while a third of her attack set is Water. Runs die to three things: the adds soaking the first minute, Geyser Gush deleting an unrecalled Fire carry, and a pace that looks fine until Harvest Goddess hands back a slab of the health bar. The party answers each of those by name.

  • The Water counter-coverageLily is not a pure Grass fight, and that single fact decides most wipes. Hard mode adds Geyser Gush at 600 power, Curtain Splash and Torrential Blast: Water pressure aimed directly at the Fire party the type chart tells you to bring. An unsupported Fire carry gets erased by it. Snock Terra trims every one of those hits by up to 30%, and the recall rules in the threat table handle the rest.
  • The five-minute damage check494,000 HP in 300 seconds is roughly 1,650 damage per second sustained, and the clock does not pause while you clear the opening minions. The carries deal the bulk of it, but your bullets are simultaneously Orserk fuel and real damage, so the player is part of the check, not a spectator.
  • One heal inside the timerLyleen carries Harvest Goddess, a heal on a 300-second cooldown, which means a five-minute run sees it at most once. Bank damage early: a run that is barely on pace entering the last minute loses to a single heal, and one comfortably ahead does not.
  • The opening escortTwo Free Pal Alliance minions spawn with her. Left alive they add crossfire, stagger and target-selection problems for Knocklem Ignis. The opening rocket is crowd control, not a kill shot: its job is to buy the window in which you delete both before committing to the boss.

The lineup

5 core members

Every slot has a job. The cards below show the exact synergy, its rank range, who it affects, and a mapped route to recruiting that pal.

Primary Fire carry01
Knocklem Ignis Core attacker

Iron Guardian Mode raises its Attack and Defense by 60% for 40 seconds on a 50-second cooldown. Community rank tables put the rank 5 figure at 210%, which we cannot confirm: our export holds no rank curve for it.

Activated partner skills carry no rank curve in the 1.0.3 export, so no scaling row appears below. The verified facts are the activated trigger, the 40-second duration and the 50-second cooldown.
Recruitment route

Catch it in the wild. Spawns at levels 65 to 68 across 36 points on the main island.

Rotation carry02
Knocklem Ignis Core attacker

The second copy buys a fresh Iron Guardian Mode the moment the first expires, a second health pool, and bench time for slot one to regenerate through Immortality. You are never fighting unbuffed.

Same activated skill as slot one, so it surfaces no scaling row either. Build both copies identically: same passives, same three skills, same investment.

Fire weakness amplifier03
Finsider Ignis 2 effects

Adds 25% to 40% Fire damage for you and your Pals when the hit lands on an elemental weakness, which every Fire hit on Lyleen does. Its 60% to 100% weapon weight cut carries the rocket and drone launchers for free.

Bullet stack engine04
Orserk 1 effect

Every bullet hit gives the fighting Pal 1% to 5% Attack and Defense for 5 seconds, stacking to 30. At rank 5 that is 150% on the active Knocklem Ignis, but only while you keep shooting.

Snock Terra 2 effects

Cuts Water damage to you and every party Pal by 15% to 30% and blocks Soak outright. This is the slot that turns Geyser Gush from a run-ender into a recall drill. Renamed from Snock Lux in v1.0.3.

TipThe short version

Rocket the two minions, deploy the first Knocklem Ignis and activate Iron Guardian Mode before touching Lyleen. Feed bullets constantly: at rank 5 each hit is 5% Attack and Defense for 5 seconds, capping at 150% over 30 stacks. Circle the outer arena, recall on every Water tell, and swap to the second Knocklem Ignis whenever the 40-second buff drops. Harvest Goddess fits one heal inside the timer, so bank your damage early.

Passives to implant

5 core · 6 total

Two passive sets. The carry four go on both Knocklem Ignis and lean deliberately toward safety over speed. The player pair goes on the three support slots, where the brief also runs Healing Coach and Wellness Watcher for regeneration and cheaper sprinting: worthwhile, but the two below move the check the most.

Serenity

All five slots
Rank 3 · Standard pool

Active skill cooldown reduction 30% Attack +10%

30% active-skill cooldown reduction and 10% Attack on the carry. The cooldown cut is the real damage passive here: it turns the Flame Wall, Flame Funnel and Fire Ball loop over faster against a fight that is one long damage check.

How to get it

Standard pool: rolls on wild catches and breeds down normally.

Eternal Flame

All five slots
Rank 4 · No roll pool

30% increase to Fire attack damage. 30% increase to Lightning attack damage.

30% more Fire damage, and every skill on the carry bar is Fire. The Lightning half of the passive does nothing in this party; the Fire half is the largest element multiplier available to it.

How to get it

Sits outside the standard roll pool in our export, so do not farm wild catches for it: source the implant from the ancient relic recycler.

Immortality

Rank 4 · Mutation

Absorbs 100% of damage dealt and restores Health. Pal Auto Health Regeneration Rate +100%. Attack +15%.

Restores Health from the damage the carry deals, doubles its auto regeneration and adds 15% Attack. It is also what makes the benched Knocklem Ignis recover during rotations instead of returning at half health.

How to get it

Mutation pool only, so it never rolls on an ordinary wild catch. Breed for it or pull the implant from the ancient relic recycler.

Gear and loadout

9 picks

Four weapons and each has exactly one job: the rocket is crowd control, the bullet weapon is the stack engine, the drones are pressure that costs no attention, and the grapple is the escape. Finsider Ignis cuts weapon weight by 60% to 100%, so carrying all four is free at rank 5.

Weapons

The bullet weapon is in your hands for most of the five minutes. Everything else is situational by design.

  • Opener
    Rocket LauncherTech Lv 65

One rocket between the two minions buys the stagger that lets Knocklem Ignis finish them. Crowd control first, damage second: do not spend fight time reloading it once the adds are down.

A Rocket Launcher that can fire a powerful round from long distances.

    Coralum Ingot ×75Polymer ×30Carbon Fiber ×25Computer ×10
  • Stack engine
    Fastest-firing bullet weapon you own

Orserk reads bullet hits, so rate of fire is worth more than per-shot damage. Stacks last 5 seconds each; a weapon that keeps them topped between dodges is the whole selection criterion.

  • Passive pressure
    Drone LauncherTech Lv 77

Up to nine autonomous drones of damage while you strafe. The common version unlocks at technology level 77, so Lily's own legendary schematic is not a prerequisite. Watch the stack indicator while drones fly and put bullets back in the air whenever it stalls.

A launcher that fires drones which perform autonomous attacks. Capable of deploying up to 9 units, enabling sustained suppression.

Paloxite Ingot ×70World Tree Holy Water ×40AI Core ×8Ancient Civilization Core ×5
  • Escape tool
    Grappling GunTech Lv 12

The answer to Ivy buildup. When Grass chip slows you below dodging speed, one hook out of Circle Vine roots or a converging Crosswind is the run saved. Unlocked at level 12; there is no reason to leave it home.

It fires a hook that latches on to distant targets, pulling the user's body towards the target. It allows for easy movement between places with varying elevation.

Armor and consumables

Nothing here is exotic. The rule rows are rules because the best answer scales with whatever you currently own.

  • Body
    Highest-rarity armor you own

Rarity first; between equal pieces take the attack roll. The Grass volleys reach you all fight, and armor is what keeps circling from turning into panicking.

  • Shield
    Best shield you can craft

It absorbs the chip that leaks through movement. Let it regenerate behind distance rather than tanking Solar Blast to save one sidestep.

  • Revive
    Revival PotionTech Lv 61

One downed Knocklem Ignis is a rotation problem; two is a wipe. Carry several, because reviving the benched copy mid-fight keeps the swap loop alive.

A potion that revives a Pal that has been injured and is unable to move.

    Cavern Mushroom ×30Red Berries ×50High Quality Pal Oil ×20Cotton Candy ×10Sulfur ×20
  • Recovery
    Recovery medicine

For you, not the Pals. Water leakage plus Grass chip adds up across five minutes, and stopping to heal is time the damage check does not refund, so heal while strafing.

  • Pal Attack food
    Pal Attack food

Feed both Knocklem Ignis at the tower door, not back at base. It is the cheapest multiplier in the build and the only one that needs no maintenance mid-fight.

// 06

Stat point priority

Highest priority first

The player is not a passenger in this party: your bullets fuel Orserk and count against the check. The ordering assumes the loadout above, including Finsider Ignis erasing most of your weapon weight.

  1. 1AttackFirst. Every bullet does double duty as stack fuel and check damage, and three Vanguard carriers already multiply whatever you put here.
  2. 2HealthSecond. Snock Terra cuts the Water that reaches you by up to 30%, but the Grass set arrives uncut, and Ivy buildup punishes a thin health pool hardest because you dodge less while slowed.
  3. 3StaminaThird. The whole fight is sprint-strafing the outer ring. Points here are what make the circle continuous rather than rationed, alongside Wellness Watcher on the supports.
  4. 4WeightFourth, and lighter than usual: Finsider Ignis removes 60% to 100% of weapon weight at rank 5, so the rocket, drones and bullet weapon nearly carry themselves. Enough for armor and ammunition is enough.
  5. 5Work SpeedNever for this fight. It does nothing inside a tower.
// 07

How to play it

6 steps

This loop repeats from the moment the minions die until the kill lands. The phase timeline puts it on the clock; this is the engine underneath it.

  1. 1Never fight unbuffed

Activate Iron Guardian Mode the moment a Knocklem Ignis deploys. The buff runs 40 seconds against a 50-second cooldown, so the buff window defines the working window and the swap covers the gap.

  2. 2Keep the bullets flowing

Each stack lasts 5 seconds. Short bursts every few seconds hold the 30-stack cap; a long reload or a greedy rocket shot lets 150% Attack and Defense decay off your carry while you watch.

  3. 3Circle wide, never beside your Pal

Hold a continuous circle around the outer arena, on the opposite arc from Knocklem Ignis, so no single area cast can clip both of you. Attack while moving and treat your shield as the budget for mistakes.

  4. 4Recall on the Water tells

Pillars gathering underneath, column walls repeating, the pressure beam winding up: recall, wait out the effect, redeploy. Snock Terra makes a caught Pal survivable; it does not make getting caught a plan.

  5. 5Swap instead of waiting

When the buff ends, health dips, or all three skills cool at once, rotate to the other Knocklem Ignis and buff immediately. The benched copy heals through Immortality while it waits its turn.

  6. 6Spend the burst on stationary windows

Flame Wall and Flame Funnel run on cooldown. Fire Ball at 600 power wants Lyleen mid-cast, not mid-reposition, so hold it the extra second for a clean landing rather than throwing it into a dodge.

// 08

Fight plan

6 phases

The clock is the fight. 494,000 HP in five minutes is roughly 1,650 damage per second sustained, and every window below assumes it. The checkpoints are diagnostic: when a run fails, they tell you which minute to fix instead of leaving you guessing at the wipe screen. Two of them matter more than the rest, the add kill and the halfway read.

  1. 1
    0:00 to 0:30Delete the escort

Open with a rocket between the two Free Pal Alliance minions: crowd control, not a kill shot. Deploy the first Knocklem Ignis, activate Iron Guardian Mode, and put both minions down before touching Lyleen. If Knocklem locks the wrong target, aim at the right one and use the Attack That Enemy command.

Both minions are dead and the first Iron Guardian Mode is running.

  2. 2
0:30 to 1:15Build the stack engine

Redirect Knocklem Ignis onto Lyleen and start feeding bullets. At rank 5 each hit is 5% Attack and Defense for 5 seconds: 10 hits is roughly 50%, 30 hits caps at 150%. Settle into the circle around the outer arena now, because every later window assumes you are already moving.

Orserk shows 30 stacks and you have not stood still since the adds died.

  3. 3
    1:15 to 2:00First rotation

Iron Guardian Mode runs 40 seconds against a 50-second cooldown. When it drops, swap to the second Knocklem Ignis and buff immediately rather than fighting through the 10-second gap. The first copy regenerates on the bench through Immortality. If a Water cast starts mid-swap, recall first: the swap and the recall use the same muscle.

  4. 4
    2:00 to 3:00Hold the loop

Rotate carries on triggers, not on a schedule: buff expired, heavy damage taken, water forming underneath, or all three skills cooling at once. Keep stacks refreshed between dodges. The midpoint is your honest pace read, and being behind here means tightening stack uptime, not playing braver.

Lyleen is at or below half HP by 2:30.

  5. 5
3:00 to 4:00Budget for the heal

Harvest Goddess sits on a 300-second cooldown, so at most one heal fits inside the timer, and this is the stretch where a thin lead evaporates when it lands. Keep both buff windows cycling, hold the recall discipline, and do not trade a redeploy into standing Curtain Splash columns for a few seconds of damage.

  6. 6
    4:00 to 5:00Spend everything

Both carries cycle Fire Ball and Flame Funnel on cooldown with stacks at cap. Drones out, bullets flowing, no saved cooldowns. The only run-ender left is feeding a Knocklem Ignis to Geyser Gush with no revive window, so the recall rule holds to the final second.

The kill lands before the timer; a run that needs the last 20 seconds was already behind at 2:30.

// 09

Attacks and counterplay

11 attacks

Nine attacks across three elements, and the grouping that matters is not elemental: it is what your hands do. Three Water casts force a recall, five Grass casts force movement you should already be doing, and the rest tax positioning. Power and cooldown render from the catalog on every chip below, so the words are spent on the response, not the numbers.

Recall triggers

The three Water moves hard mode adds specifically to punish Fire parties. Snock Terra trims them by up to 30%; it does not make tanking them correct.

  • Geyser GushWaterPower 60030s cooldown

Recall Knocklem Ignis the moment water gathers underneath it, wait for every pillar to finish, then redeploy. This is the most dangerous attack in the fight, and the recall always costs less than the hit.

  • Curtain SplashWaterPower 30016s cooldown

Walls of water columns repeat at the target position. Keep moving through the cast, and never throw the second Knocklem Ignis into columns still standing where the first was recalled.

  • Torrential BlastWaterPower 25012s cooldown

Strafe off the initial stream and keep strafing: it branches left and right after a delay, so a single early sidestep walks you into the second hit.

Dodge tests

The Grass set mostly threatens you rather than the Fire carries. Every entry is answered by movement you should already be doing: a continuous circle around the outer arena.

  • Wind BurstGrassPower 60030s cooldown

A vortex erupts around Lyleen herself. Leave close range as the wind-up starts; nothing this build does requires melee distance, so there is no reason to be inside the radius.

  • CrosswindGrassPower 50024s cooldown

Blades conjure in front of you and converge on your position. Lateral movement beats it; stopping to line up a shot is how it connects.

  • Solar BlastGrassPower 45020s cooldown

Sprint sideways through the charge instead of trying to outrange the beam. The charge animation is your warning window; use all of it.

  • Raid CutterGrassPower 40020s cooldown

Countless wind swords fly straight at you. Keep the strafe running rather than spending one early dodge, because the volley outlasts a single roll.

  • Circle VineGrassPower 30016s cooldown

Sharp roots sprout in and around your position. Move off your own spot the instant they appear, and grapple out if Ivy buildup has already slowed you.

Position taxes

Not dodges so much as standing rules. Each of these is beaten by where you are before the cast, not by reaction speed.

  • Poison ShowerDarkPower 1608s cooldown

Poison orbs scatter in all directions around Lyleen, a close-range problem. Fighting from range means the orbs, and a simultaneous poison on you and your active Pal, never happen.

  • Ivy-Covered

Grass hits build a mobility restriction on the player. Snock Terra covers Water and Soak, not this: the Grappling Gun is the emergency exit when normal movement stops being enough.

  • Overlapping area damage

Standing beside Knocklem Ignis lets one area cast hit you both at once. Fight from the opposite arc of the arena so the same cast can only ever tax one of you.

What this build turns down

3 considered

Three swaps get pitched as upgrades to this party. Each is real, and each trades away the margin that makes the build repeatable.

Celesdir Noct over Snock Terra

The case for it
The maximum-damage variation. Blessing of Chaos grants the fighting Pal a 40% Attack increase in exchange for gradual Health loss, and speedrun parties take that trade for faster clears.

Its per-rank effect value is zero on all five ranks in our export, so condensation buys nothing we can verify beyond the description text. Worse, the drain sits on a carry that already eats super-effective Water burst: one slow recall under Geyser Gush and the drain finishes what the pillar started. This party already stacks Iron Guardian Mode, up to 150% of bullet stacks and a 40% weakness bonus; the Water cut is worth more than one more multiplier.

God of Destruction on the carries

The case for it
40% Attack and 20% Defense from a single passive slot, the biggest raw attack line available to a Pal in the game.

It also cuts maximum Health by 50%, and this is the one tower where that penalty is aimed at directly: Geyser Gush is 600-power super-effective Water against a Fire carry. Halving the health pool converts a survivable mistake into a revive, and the build sells damage for consistency everywhere else, so it does here too.

Flame Cutter over Fire Ball

The case for it
Knocklem Ignis learns its exclusive Flame Cutter at level 70: 700 power, the hardest single hit on its learnset.

The flaming ring flies a circular trajectory, and against a boss that repositions constantly the arc misses often enough to lose the trade. Fire Ball gives up 100 power for a hit that lands. Run Flame Cutter only after your own results show it connecting cleanly, and keep Flame Wall and Flame Funnel either way.

Where to get everything

6 stops

The long pole is breeding and condensing two identical carries. Everything else on the list is a purchase, a craft, or a catch you can finish in an evening.

  1. Breed both Knocklem IgnisThe unique combination is Knocklem plus Ragnahawk. Breed two rather than stopping at one, because the rotation is the build: a single copy fights unbuffed 10 seconds of every 50.Knocklem Ignis guide
  2. Invest past the catchBoth carries want level 80, full condensation, Pal Soul enhancement, awakening and strong Attack, Defense and Health IVs, plus Pal Attack food at the door. That list is the difference between on pace at 2:30 and 40 seconds short.
  3. Condense the supports to rank 5The support numbers on this page are rank 5 values: 40% from Finsider Ignis, 5% per bullet from Orserk, 30% from Snock Terra. At rank 1 the same three Pals give 25%, 1% and 15%, which is a different and worse build.
  4. Find Snock Terra under its new namev1.0.3 renamed Snock Lux to Snock Terra: same Pal, same Grounding Shell partner skill. Older guides and older search results still use the old name, so do not go hunting for a Pal that no longer exists.Snock Terra guide
  5. Buy the player implants onceVanguard, Stronghold Strategist, Healing Coach and Wellness Watcher come from a bounty officer for bounty tokens, then apply to any pal for gold. Bounty tokens drop from the purple wanted markers on the map.
  6. Craft the kit before the doorRocket Launcher at technology level 65, Drone Launcher at 77, Revival Potions at 61, recovery medicine and Pal Attack food. None of it needs Lily's own drops, including the Drone Launcher.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is Lily and Lyleen just a Grass boss I can burn down with any Fire team?

No, and that belief is the main way prepared parties lose. The boss card reads Grass and Fire is the correct counter, but the hard-mode attack set carries three Water moves, led by the 600-power Geyser Gush, aimed exactly at the Fire Pal you brought. Fire still wins the fight; it needs Snock Terra behind it and a recall on every Water tell to do it reliably.

Where do I catch Snock Lux for the Lily fight?

Under its new name. v1.0.3 renamed Snock Lux to Snock Terra: same Pal, same Grounding Shell partner skill. At rank 5 it cuts Water damage to you and every party Pal by 30% and grants Soak immunity, exactly what the older guides promise from the old name. Our Snock Lux page redirects to Snock Terra, so either search lands in the right place.

Does Iron Guardian Mode give 210% Attack and Defense at rank 5?

We cannot confirm it. Our 1.0.3 export carries no rank curve for activated partner skills, so the verified facts are the description figures: 60% Attack and 60% Defense for 40 seconds on a 50-second cooldown. The 210% figure comes from community rank tables. The strategy does not hinge on which number is true: the two copies exist for uptime, and the rotation works at either magnitude.

Do Drone Launcher hits build Orserk stacks?

Treat them as if they do not. Ferocious Thunder Dragon reads bullet hits, and drones attack autonomously, so watch the stack indicator whenever the launcher is out: if the count stalls, put bullets back in the air. The drones stay worth carrying for their own damage, up to nine units of pressure that costs you no attention, but they supplement the stack engine rather than replace it.

Can I clear hard mode Lily and Lyleen with one Knocklem Ignis?

You can, and it usually costs more than the breeding time it saves. One copy fights unbuffed 10 seconds of every 50, has no swap answer when Geyser Gush connects, and turns every recall into dead time against a 494,000 HP five-minute check. The second copy is the same pair, Knocklem plus Ragnahawk, run twice. Breed the second egg before the fight, not after the first wipe.
