Two maxed Neptilius rotate 700-power bursts into a 1.5x Water weakness while drone fire feeds the active carry up to 150% Attack and Defense.
Hard Mode Marcus and Faleris is a bait. Faleris is Fire, takes 1.5x damage from Water, and every returning player reads that as an invitation to field a Water party. Hard Mode punishes exactly that read: four of its ten attacks are Electric (Thunder Rail, Thunderstorm, All Range Thunder and Thunder Rain), and every one of them hits Water Pals super effectively. This build takes the Water damage anyway and buys insurance everywhere else. Two identically built Neptilius alternate burst windows into the weakness, Jormuntide raises everyone's damage to Soaked targets by 50% to 65%, Orserk turns sustained bullet fire into up to 150% Attack and Defense on the active carry, and Silvegis cuts the damage your shield takes by up to 80% while you stand in the open operating drones. The execution requirement is one habit: recall the active Neptilius on every Electric wind-up, and let the second copy cover the gap.

The encounter
Marcus and Faleris, Hard Mode
The PIDF Tower rematch is the game asking whether you can counter without being countered. Hard Mode Marcus and Faleris sits at level 78 with 526,900 HP behind a five-minute timer and a four-soldier escort, and while Faleris is a Fire Pal that takes 1.5x damage from Water, four of its ten attacks are Electric and exist to delete the Water party you were invited to bring. Runs die three ways here: the escort never gets cleared, a carry stands in an Electric cast, or a cautious rotation banks cooldowns the timer never refunds.

the Electric four are the ones that kill Water parties
The five-minute damage check526,900 HP inside 300 seconds is a sustained-pace requirement, and it is the reason this party runs two identical carries. One Neptilius banking cooldowns cannot hold the pace; two pools alternating under Serenity's 30% cooldown cut can. Every defensive choice on this page is priced against staying on that schedule.
Electric coverage aimed at the counterFaleris is Fire, so the correct answer is Water, and Hard Mode packs four Electric attacks that hit Water Pals super effectively precisely because of it. The fight is not testing whether you brought the counter; it is testing whether you can keep the counter alive while it works. Recall discipline is the actual mechanic.
The PIDF escortTwo PIDF Riflemen and two Elites open the fight, and their gunfire interrupts mounting, drains your shield and splits Neptilius's targeting. The boss rotation starts when the fourth soldier dies, not when the gate opens; a rocket into the cluster buys the fight back in one shot.

The lineup
5 core members
Every slot has a job. The cards below show the exact synergy, its rank range, who it affects, and a mapped route to recruiting that pal.
Follows your attacks with Water spear strikes on a 5 second cooldown and brings a 145 base attack stat. Its swim-speed rider (10% to 25%) begins at rank 2, not rank 1, and never matters inside a tower.
Sentinel of the Great Sea surfaces no combat number: the payload is the activated Water spear follow-up, and the only numeric rider in the extract is out-of-combat swim speed.

The second copy buys a fresh pool of Thalassonic Laser and Geyser Gush casts, a second health bar, and healing time for the first. One badly hurt carry becomes a rotation problem instead of a failed run.
A second copy improves no partner skill: (Does not stack) means a same-species duplicate adds nothing. This slot is cooldowns and health, not buffs.

TipThe short version
Rocket the four PIDF soldiers before touching Faleris. Deploy the Drone Launcher and keep its drones connected, because every hit feeds Orserk stacks. Land one Water skill to apply Soak, Megaboost the first Neptilius, mount, and dump Thalassonic Laser, Geyser Gush and Hydro Slicer. Dismount, let the AI take a second pass, then swap to the second Neptilius and repeat. Recall whichever copy is out the moment an Electric attack starts charging.

Passives to implant
4 core · 6 total
The four carry passives go on both Neptilius, identically, and they are the defensive endgame configuration rather than the highest paper damage: this fight punishes half-built health bars. The trainer passives ride the three support slots, which never leave their spheres.

11 picks
Three tools run the fight: a rocket for the escort, drones for Orserk, and the Megaboost Gun for the carry. The accessory slots go all-in on the active Pal, because in this build the active Pal is the damage.
Weapons
All three are craftable before the rematch; the Drone Launcher is the late unlock at technology level 77 and the one this build cannot skip.
One rocket into the opening cluster deletes most of the escort at range. It is a single-shot weapon, so fire it before you deploy and let Neptilius mop up the survivors.
A Rocket Launcher that can fire a powerful round from long distances.
Deploys up to nine autonomous drones, and every drone hit counts as a bullet for Orserk. Launch them before you mount so stacks keep building while you ride, and stay close enough that they keep connecting.
A launcher that fires drones which perform autonomous attacks. Capable of deploying up to 9 units, enabling sustained suppression.

Shoot your own Neptilius before each burst window: it boosts the target's attack and defense, and this improved model boosts harder and lasts longer than the base gun. Never spend its shots on Faleris.
Firing it at an allied Pal boosts their attack and defense, while hitting an enemy deals damage. Thanks to improvements, the boost is stronger and lasts longer, and it deals more damage to enemies.
Raises the active Pal's Attack and significantly increases their Water damage. Every damage skill on this page is Water, so this is the first slot filled.

Heal the resting carry between its burst windows. Note the name: several guides call this Advanced Recovery Medicine, and no such item exists. The in-game item is Advanced Recovery Meds.
Medicine that heals wounds over time. Extremely high quality, it rapidly restores HP before your eyes.
Attack and defense food replace each other, and this build already buys its defense from Silvegis and the accessories. Eat the attack buff and re-enter if it expired in a retry queue.
Shield
The highest shield you can craft
Silvegis multiplies whatever shield you bring: an 80% damage cut on a bigger pool is more effective shield health, and it starts regenerating 60% sooner.
// 06
Stat point priority
Highest priority first
An ordering rather than a budget, and it leans attack because the party already covers defense twice over. The player is a real damage source in this build, not a spectator with a buff bar.
1AttackFirst. Vanguard, the Dogen Emblem and attack food all multiply it, and your rocket and sustained gunfire are a real share of a 526,900 HP check.
2HealthSecond. The hits that land while your shield is down are what health covers, and this fight throws wide Fire explosions you will not always dodge cleanly.
3StaminaThird. You spend the whole fight moving: strafing radial lightning, leaving Volcanic Rain rings, and sprinting the perimeter during Raging Flame Wave.
4Weight and work speedLast. The Rocket Launcher alone weighs 30, so weight is a packing problem, not a fight stat. Work speed does nothing here.
// 07
How to play it
7 steps
The loop below runs from the moment the escort dies until the fight ends, and it treats both Neptilius as one carry with two cooldown pools. The phase plan schedules it against the clock; this is the machine itself.
1Keep the drones connected
Up to nine drones attack autonomously, and each hit gives the active Pal 1% to 5% Attack and Defense for 5 seconds, stacking to 30. Stay close enough that they keep landing: out of range, the stacks decay and the carry deflates.
2Keep Soak applied
Thalassonic Laser, Geyser Gush and Hydro Slicer all inflict Soak, and Jormuntide raises everyone's damage to Soaked targets by 50% to 65%. After the opening hit this maintains itself; never let a long recall window pass without a single Water hit.
3Megaboost before you mount
The Megaboost Gun raises the target Pal's attack and defense, so spend it on the Neptilius you are about to ride, not the one resting. Fire it during the approach, then mount immediately so the buff overlaps the whole burst.
4Mount and dump the burst
Ride the active Neptilius and cast Thalassonic Laser, then Geyser Gush, then Hydro Slicer. Community skill testing reports Geyser Gush and Hydro Slicer overperform their listed power against large targets when their secondary eruptions connect, and Faleris is a large target.
5Dismount for the AI pass
Dismount as the third cast lands. The AI-controlled Neptilius runs its own attack rotation while you return to gunfire and stack maintenance, which is a second pass of Water damage you did not have to pilot.
6Swap pools, not habits
When the first copy's casts are spent, recall it and deploy the second Neptilius for the identical sequence, then swap back once the first pool recovers. Two pools alternating is the entire damage model, and the resting copy healing up is part of it, not wasted time.
7Recall on every Electric wind-up
This rule overrides everything above. Water resistance makes the Fire suite manageable and does nothing against the Electric four, so the moment one starts charging, the active Neptilius goes back in its sphere. Seconds of lost damage are cheaper than a maxed carry.
// 08
Fight plan
6 phases
Five minutes, scheduled backwards. The escort must die inside the first thirty seconds, the amplifiers must be running by one minute, and the boss bar must cross half by 2:30 or the run is behind pace. Every window below assumes the rotation from the section above is running underneath it.
1
0:00 to 0:30Delete the escort
Fire the Rocket Launcher into the opening cluster of two PIDF Riflemen and two Elites, then deploy the first Neptilius to mop up with Geyser Gush or Hydro Slicer. Aim at a straggler and press the Attack That Enemy command (mouse wheel or right stick) to force targeting. Do not touch Faleris yet.
All four soldiers are dead and your shield is intact or already regenerating.
2
0:30 to 1:00Start the engines
Deploy the Drone Launcher and confirm its drones are connecting with Faleris, because every hit is an Orserk stack. Land any Water skill to apply Soak and switch Jormuntide's amplifier on. Fire the Megaboost Gun into your first Neptilius, then mount it.
Faleris is Soaked and the Orserk buff is visibly climbing on the active carry.
3
1:00 to 2:00First burst cycle
Dump the full mounted burst: Thalassonic Laser, Geyser Gush, Hydro Slicer. Dismount and let the AI-controlled Neptilius run its own casts while you keep gunfire and drones feeding stacks. When its rotation is spent, recall it and deploy the second Neptilius for the same sequence.
4
2:00 to 3:00Rotate and recall
Alternate carries as cooldowns allow and re-Megaboost whenever the gun is ready. This is where the Electric suite starts deciding the run: the moment Thunder Rail, Thunderstorm, All Range Thunder or Thunder Rain begins charging, recall the active copy and strafe until it resolves.
The boss bar is at or below half by 2:30; that is the pace the timer demands.
5
3:00 to 4:00Hold the pace
Nothing new should happen here, which is the point. Refresh drones as they expire, heal the resting Neptilius with Advanced Recovery Meds between its windows, and keep working the arena perimeter so Raging Flame Wave's converging tornadoes merge behind you instead of on you.
6
4:00 to 5:00Spend everything
Stop banking. Both burst pools go out the moment they are ready, your own gunfire fills every gap between casts, and a downed carry gets a Revival Potion instead of a retreat. The timer, not Faleris, is the boss in this window: cooldowns held in reserve are damage the run never dealt.
// 09
Attacks and counterplay
7 attacks
Ten attacks sort into two jobs. The Fire suite is aimed at you, the player: Neptilius resists it, your shield and Silvegis absorb it, and positioning solves it. The Electric suite is aimed at your Pals, hits Water super effectively, and is the only thing on this list that ends runs. Spend the counterplay budget there: learn the four wind-ups and recall on every one.
Recall triggers
All four Electric attacks hit Water Pals super effectively, and all four are telegraphed. The response always starts the same way: the active Neptilius goes back in its sphere before the cast lands.
Thunder RailElectricPower 60030s cooldown
The charge-up is your recall window. Pull Neptilius, then strafe perpendicular to Faleris's facing: the simultaneous shocks fire along its line, and sideways movement takes you out of it.
ThunderstormElectricPower 60030s cooldown
The lightning tornado tracks slowly, so it kills Pals left standing in it, not players paying attention. Recall, walk a wide arc around it, and redeploy once it dissipates.
All Range ThunderElectricPower 50024s cooldown
The strikes travel outward in straight radial lines. Back off and pick a gap between two lines rather than running along one, and recall first if Neptilius is deployed near the origin.
Thunder RainElectricPower 40020s cooldown
Delayed strikes land on the marked target after a beat. If that target is Neptilius, recall it and let the strikes waste themselves; if it is you, keep sprinting until the last bolt lands.
Dodge and reposition
Neptilius resists the Fire suite and Silvegis absorbs most of what reaches your shield, so these are positioning tests for the player rather than recall calls.
Raging Flame WaveFirePower 65030s cooldown
Hold the arena perimeter during the glide: the scorching tornadoes converge on the centre, so the middle of the arena is the only place this attack is lethal. Keep the camera clear of walls.
Fire BallFirePower 60030s cooldown
Keep lateral movement and dodge late, because the explosion is wide enough to punish an early roll. Never take it pinned between Faleris and a wall, where the camera hides the throw.
Volcanic RainFirePower 45020s cooldown
The bombs go up, pause, then rain down around Faleris. On the launch, step outside the impact ring, then re-enter drone range once the last bomb lands so Orserk stacks do not decay.

What this build turns down
3 considered
Each of these is genuinely advocated for this fight, and each trades away the property this build is named for: a clear that does not depend on a clean run.
God of Destruction on the carries
The case for it Its 40% Attack is the largest attack passive in the game, with 20% Defense attached, and a burst build wants the biggest multiplier on its two damage windows.
It also halves maximum Health, and Hard Mode Faleris carries four Electric attacks that already hit Water Pals super effectively. A half-health Neptilius dies to the exact attacks this fight is built around, so the foolproof configuration runs Immortality and Diamond Body instead.
Penking Lux over Silvegis
The case for it Dropping the shield support for Penking Lux adds 25% to 40% Water damage on weakness hits, party wide, and Faleris is weak to Water. It is the faster single-player clear.
It is also the version where a mistake costs the run. You spend this fight in the open feeding drones and swapping carries, and the 65% to 80% shield cut is what makes that survivable. Take the slower clear that finishes.
One Neptilius plus a fourth support
The case for it The second Neptilius adds no partner-skill effect, so replacing it with another amplifier looks like free damage.
The duplicate was never there for its partner skill. It is a second set of burst cooldowns and a second health bar, and the damage check is paced around the two of them alternating. One carry banking cooldowns loses to the clock, and one bad Electric hit ends the run.

Where to get everything
6 stops
Nothing here is a lucky drop except the accessory schematics. The rest is a checklist: two carries, three ranked supports, four passives each, three weapons.
Breed two identical NeptiliusBoth copies want the same four passives and strong Attack and Defense IVs, so plan them as one breeding project with two outputs. Build both to high Trust; the clears this guide is based on run Trust 7 or better on the active attackers.Neptilius field guide
Condense the whole party to rank 5Every number on this page is the rank 5 value: Jormuntide at 65% rather than 50%, Orserk at 5% per hit rather than 1%, Silvegis at 80% and 60% rather than 65% and 30%. An uncondensed support line roughly halves the build.
Finish the carriesTake both Neptilius to the level 80 cap with full Pal Soul enhancement and Awakening. The five-minute check is priced against finished carries: the party structure covers mistakes, not missing stats.
Source the burst kitGeyser Gush and Thalassonic Laser are native learnset skills at levels 50 and 60. Hydro Slicer is not: it needs a Skill Fruit. Until you hold one, run Aqua Surge, the native replacement the same rotation works with.
Farm the accessory schematicsLord of the Sea's Baton, Neptilius's Talisman and the Faleris Aqua Ring are all schematic unlocks whose recipes lean on Aquatic Pal Fluids and ancient parts. Craft all three before the rematch; the Dogen Emblem fills the fourth slot once you hold its schematic.
Unlock the launcher trioThe Rocket Launcher is technology level 65, the Megaboost Gun 63, and the Drone Launcher 77 at four points, with a recipe that wants 70 Paloxite Ingots and 40 World Tree Holy Water. Revival Potions unlock at 61; stock more than one.

Keep the build's identity while adapting the lineup to the pals you own or the encounter ahead.
Why does my Water team keep dying to Marcus and Faleris in Hard Mode?
Because the fight is designed to punish the obvious counter. Faleris is Fire and takes 1.5x damage from Water, but four of its ten Hard Mode attacks (Thunder Rail, Thunderstorm, All Range Thunder and Thunder Rain) are Electric, and Electric hits Water Pals super effectively. Water resistance handles the Fire suite; nothing handles the Electric suite except recalling your Pal during the wind-up. That habit, not the party list, is the clear.
Does running two Neptilius stack their partner skills?
No. (Does not stack) in Palworld 1.0 means a second copy of the same species adds nothing, and Sentinel of the Great Sea has no party buff to double anyway. The second Neptilius is there for its second set of skill cooldowns and its second health pool: one bursts while the other recovers, which is what keeps damage continuous across five minutes.
Is Railbolt a real Palworld attack?
Railbolt is the skill's internal row id, not its display name. Our catalog shows it as Thunder Rail: Electric, 600 power, on a 30 second cooldown, and it is one of the four Electric attacks Hard Mode Faleris uses. Thunder Rain is a separate, weaker skill at 400 power; guides that use the two names interchangeably are collapsing two different attacks.
What level should I be for Hard Mode Marcus and Faleris?
The boss is level 78 with 526,900 HP on a five-minute timer, so this is an endgame check, not a threshold you can squeak past. Take both Neptilius to the level 80 cap, fully condensed, Soul-enhanced and Awakened. Palworld 1.0 rebalanced Hard Mode towers around that finished progression, and the timer is priced accordingly.
Why is Orserk's partner skill not working on my dedicated server?
Players report Ferocious Thunder Dragon sometimes failing to apply on dedicated and multiplayer servers while working in single player, with no fix listed as of the v1.0.2 notes. Test before the real attempt: fire several shots and watch for the buff icon or the active Pal's stats rising. If it is dead on your server, swap Orserk for Penking Lux, whose 25% to 40% Water weakness bonus needs no stacks at all.
