Is the Ancient Hatchery Worth 50 AI Cores?

The Ancient Hatchery costs 50 AI Cores and a mountain of endgame materials, but players report breeding and incubation cycles measured in seconds. Here is who should build it.

The Ancient Hatchery is one of the most offensive recipes in Palworld 1.0.

Fifty AI Cores. One hundred Paloxite Ingots. Twenty Ancient Civilization Cores. It looks like a machine designed to bankrupt the player five minutes before the credits.

Then you turn it on.

Players are reporting breeding cycles around five seconds and incubation around two seconds, with Vegetable Cakes producing two eggs at a time. A system that once consumed entire play sessions becomes something you can accidentally overfeed.

The real Ancient Hatchery recipe#

The Ancient Hatchery unlocks at level 76 as an ancient technology costing 8 Ancient Technology Points. The build itself carries one million units of work and four separate endgame material demands.

RequirementsLevel 76+

The 50 AI Cores dominate the conversation, but they are not the entire cost. You also need a reliable Paloxite chain and enough Ancient Civilization Cores to avoid starving your next generator, Synthesizer, or other premium facility.

Those times come from a current community setup report, not a universal official timer. Condensation, partner skills, food, world settings, and future patches can change the result. The direction is not in doubt: the Ancient Hatchery is vastly faster than the traditional farm-and-incubator loop.

Why 50 AI Cores can be cheap#

The price only looks absurd when you value the machine as one breeding project.

Suppose you want one perfect combat Pal. You need parents, passives, enough eggs to survive bad inheritance, and then a huge supply of copies for condensation. A normal setup makes time the limiting resource. The Ancient Hatchery pushes that limit back toward cake ingredients and Palbox management.

Now multiply the same loop across a raid team, base specialists, mounts, and experimental builds. The machine keeps paying you back every time.

Your goalAncient Hatchery valueWhy
Hatch a few missing Paldeck entriesLowTraditional breeding is good enough
Make one strong story teamMediumHelpful, but 50 cores may unlock more elsewhere
Fully condense several workersHighCopy production becomes the main job
Build multiple perfect raid teamsExtremeSeconds per cycle changes the project scale
Farm sale Pals for goldPotentially highFast egg volume can feed a merchant loop

This is why players in the thread call it fair despite calling it broken. The machine arrives at the exact point where Palworld starts asking for armies of condensed, soul-enhanced, awakened Pals. It is not an early-game convenience. It is the factory that makes late-game experimentation possible.

The setup that turns seconds into output#

The Hatchery itself is only one station in a longer chain. If it eats cakes faster than your kitchen can produce them, your miraculous breeding room becomes a very expensive white box.

The reported community setup uses:

  • Alpha Sekhmet and Renjishi for Vegetable Cakes
  • Shaolong to turn Wheat into Flour
  • Dedicated transport
  • Cold food storage
  • Merchants for Egg, Wheat, Tomato, and Lettuce
  • A separate Honey supply

You do not need to copy every Pal. You do need to copy the separation of jobs.

  1. Treat cakes as fuel, not occasional food.
  2. Put the kitchen close to cake ingredients and transport.
  3. Keep the breeding pair assigned and fed.
  4. Empty the Hatchery before finished eggs become the next bottleneck.
  5. Decide where unwanted Pals go before the Palbox fills.

The same thread reports that Vegetable Cakes produce two eggs and that a fast breeding pair can finish in seconds. It also contains disagreement about whether Braloha meaningfully speeds this specific machine. That is a perfect reason to test your own server instead of spending a worker slot on a bonus you cannot see.

The gold loop is powerful, but it is not the main reason#

One player uses the Hatchery to mass-produce Dumud Gild, then sells the results with a party carrying Noble and Fine Furs. The proceeds buy more ingredients, which become more cakes, which become more sale Pals.

That loop is clever. It is also the easiest part of the machine to rebalance.

The durable value is not one merchant price. It is the ability to generate the Pal you need at a speed that lets you change your mind. If a raid strategy fails, you can test another team without losing a week to eggs. If a worker build disappoints, you can replace it. If a patch moves the meta, the Hatchery remains a throughput asset.

That is a stronger investment case than “this Pal currently sells for 20,000.”

When you should keep the 50 cores#

Do not build the Hatchery just because the unlock notification made it feel mandatory.

Keep the cores if any of these are true:

  • Your power grid still fails under normal production.
  • You have no stable Paloxite supply.
  • You rarely breed beyond Paldeck completion.
  • Your real blocker is passive surgery, souls, or awakening materials.
  • Spending 50 cores would delay several facilities you will use every session.

Our AI Core true-cost and craft-priority guide is the better starting point if those cores are still your scarcest currency. Compare the Hatchery against the next-best use, not against an imaginary pile of materials doing nothing.

The build-now checklist#

  • Bank all 50 AI Cores before spending the other materials
  • Secure 100 Paloxite Ingots and 20 Ancient Civilization Cores
  • Stock Vegetable Cake ingredients and Honey
  • Clear enough Palbox space for repeated batches
  • Choose the first Pal you will breed and condense
  • Keep a traditional Breeding Farm until your timing test is complete

If you check all six boxes, build it. The Ancient Hatchery is not a luxury at that point. It is the machine that lets Palworld's final progression systems breathe.

If you check two, keep farming.
