The good news is that the whole chain becomes predictable once you stop counting oil tanks and start counting oil per hour.

The Wing Cell recipe is the real starting line#

One craft produces one Wing Cell. Oil is the limiting input for most bases, so the useful equation is wonderfully short:
**Wing Cells per hour = Crude Oil per hour ÷ 20**
The Mythical Wood requirement still matters, but it is usually easier to scale independently. If your cell chest keeps emptying, audit oil first.

Exact Wing Cells per hour at every research tier#
The extractor performs 120 work each second against an 8,000-work oil cycle. That completes one Crude Oil every 66.67 seconds, or exactly 54 per hour before bonuses.
The Pal Research Lab offers three oil-extraction speed upgrades: 20%, 30%, and 40%. They stack to 90%.

The full research line almost doubles the value of every oil machine you already own. It is cheaper than solving the same shortage with twice the footprint and twice the power.
How many extractors do you need?#
Choose your target burn rate, then round up:

This is a sustainable rate, not a burst-crafting recommendation. If you only take the Wing Pack out for bosses or long exploration sessions, a smaller line can fill a buffer chest while you do other things.
Normal versus high-pressure extractors#
The High-Pressure Crude Oil Extractor is a placement upgrade, not a speed upgrade. Both machines use the same 8,000-work cycle and the same automatic work rate.

That extra 1,000 power does not buy more oil. It buys freedom to build the oil line where your logistics, storage, and workforce already live.
How many generators do you actually need?#
There is no honest fixed answer such as “one generator powers three extractors.” Generators store electricity, while the Pal assigned to Generating Electricity determines how quickly that charge returns. The machine draw is exact. Your Pal's output is the variable.
Use a charge-trend test instead:
- 1Fully charge the generator
Start the test with a clean baseline.
- 2Turn on the complete oil line
Include pumps, assembly lines, refrigerators, and every machine that normally runs beside it.
- 3Watch one full work cycle
A brief dip is fine. A steady downward trend means generation is below demand.
- 4Improve the electricity Pal first
Better work suitability and base-focused passives often solve the deficit without another generator.
- 5Add a dedicated generator if charge still falls
Separate the oil line from less important intermittent machines when possible.
For a late-game oil facility, begin with one Large or Ancient Power Generator and a strong dedicated electricity Pal. Build a buffer instead of chasing perfect uptime#
A production line feels much better when Wing Cells are a stocked consumable rather than an emergency craft.
Pick a reserve that matches how you play:
- Casual exploration: 20 cells in the travel chest.
- Long World Tree session: 40 to 60 cells.
- Heavy daily use: one full day of your measured burn rate.
If you consume about eight cells per hour and play for three hours, your daily reserve target is 24. Two fully researched extractors make roughly 20.5 cells in two hours, so the base can refill that reserve during ordinary maintenance time.

Run the 10-minute Wing Pack base audit#
- Write down how many Wing Cells you use in one typical hour
- Divide that number by 2.7 for the no-research extractor count
- Divide it by 5.13 for the full-research extractor count
- Confirm Mythical Wood production exceeds 10 per planned cell
- Check whether each extractor is normal or high-pressure
- Watch the generator charge during continuous oil production
- Research oil extraction before building duplicate infrastructure
- Stock at least one full play session of Wing Cells
The strongest Wing Pack base is not the one with the most pumps. It is the one whose oil line, power grid, and reserve chest agree with the way its owner actually flies.
