Shoot constantly: your bullets are both your damage and your pal buff.
A hybrid party with two damage recipients, and the loop that connects them is your trigger finger. Solenne pays 30% to 80% attack, Frostplume cuts reload time by 20% to 50%, Nyafia adds 10% to 35% shotgun damage, and Vanwyrm Cryst adds 30% to 50% on weak-point hits. Meanwhile every bullet you land gives the active pal 1% to 5% Attack and Defense through Orserk, stacking 30 times for 150% at full condensation. The trainer buffs make you hit harder; the volume of those hits is what turns your pal into a second carry. Keep the two lanes straight, because Orserk raises the pal and none of the others do.
Every slot has a job. The cards below show the exact synergy, its rank range, who it affects, and a mapped route to recruiting that pal.
Raises trainer Attack by 30% to 80% while every Pal in the party is a different species.
Catch it in the wild. Only spawns on the World Tree region.
Raises trainer reload speed by 20% to 50% from a party slot.
Catch it in the wild. Spawns at levels 39 to 68 across 115 points on the main island.
Raises trainer shotgun damage by 10% to 35%; its activated Partner Skill also fires a shotgun.
Catch it in the wild. Spawns at levels 50 to 58 across 293 points on the main island.
Each bullet hit gives the active Pal 1% to 5% Attack and Defense for five seconds, up to 30 stacks.
Catch it in the wild. Only spawns on the World Tree region.
Adds 30% to 50% weak-point damage, and unlike the slot it replaced it works on every shot with every gun rather than inside a ten-second window.
Catch it in the wild. Spawns at levels 23 to 67 across 266 points on the main island.
Keep a shotgun on the target and never stop firing. Solenne, Frostplume, Nyafia and Vanwyrm Cryst all raise your own damage or handling, while every bullet that lands stacks Orserk buff on the pal fighting beside you, up to 150% Attack and Defense at 30 stacks. Stacks expire five seconds after the last hit, so a long reload undoes the ramp. Save Nyafia activated shotgun for a burst window.
Compare every surfaced partner effect at base rank and full condensation. Effects marked Unique can still scale by rank, but a second carrier of the same species adds nothing. Two different species carrying the same effect do add together.

Four of the five party slots point at you, so the player implants come first. The one pal-facing slot is Orserk, and the passive that helps it is a pal element passive rather than a trainer one.
10% increase in Player Attack.
Raises the attack that Solenne, Nyafia and Vanwyrm Cryst all multiply. Put it on all five slots.
50% player attack across five carriers
Bought once from a bounty officer for bounty tokens, then applied to any pal for gold. Bounty tokens come from the purple wanted markers on your map.
10% increase in Player Defense.
A shotgun build fights at close range by definition, and nothing in this lineup mitigates damage. Player defense is the only bulk you get.
50% player defense across five carriers
Same bounty officer, same one-time purchase. Buy both on the first trip.
Player Reload Speed +4%
Worth 4% reload speed per copy, and it is a core passive here rather than an optional one. Orserk stacks decay five seconds after your last hit, so reload time is the thing standing between you and a permanently buffed pal.
20% reload speed across five carriers, on top of Frostplume 50%
Sold by the arena vendor for battle tickets earned from arena challenges.
Pal and Player Auto Health Regeneration Rate +50% Defense +25% Immune to Poison Damage Immune to Burn Damage
Defense, regeneration and immunity to poison and burn. The general-purpose survivability passive once the three above are placed.
Defense and regeneration on every carrier, immunities do not need stacking
Mutation-pool only, so it never rolls on an ordinary wild catch. Breed for it, or pull the implant from the ancient relic recycler.
Nyafia bonus covers shotguns specifically, so the weapon choice is not open. Magazine size matters more than per-shot damage, because Orserk stacks decay while you reload. Materials shown are the first craftable tier.
Nyafia 35% applies to any shotgun. Between two shotguns, take the one that keeps bullets in the air: a bigger magazine means a longer unbroken Orserk ramp.
The highest-damage shotgun in the game at 1,167 listed attack with a 12-round magazine. Technology 69.
A shotgun made from Soralite Ingots. It delivers overwhelming firepower at close range, and its special magazine also provides high sustained combat capability.
Lower per-shot at 508, but a 30-round magazine, which is by far the longest uninterrupted Orserk ramp available. It is also an energy weapon, so it is the one shotgun Xenogard also pays out on.
A specialized beam weapon for close-range combat. It fires compressed energy in a wide, scattering blast.
Technology 63 and a 10-round magazine. The bridge weapon while you work toward the Prototype Shotgun.
A shotgun that fires energy rounds. Excelling in rapid fire, its close-range firepower is truly otherworldly.
Technology 43. Perfectly adequate while levelling, and the party buffs are identical at every tier.
A high capacity, powerful shotgun. It has outstanding close range DPS.
Split the difference. The Dogen Emblem and Silvegis Emblem are the two accessories in the game that pay both you and the active pal, which is exactly what this build is.
Attack Up Lv. 4 for you at 20%, plus Pal Attack Up Lv. 4 at 16% for whichever pal Orserk is stacking. Best-in-slot for a hybrid party.
An accessory that greatly raises your Attack, and that of the Pal fighting alongside you.
Attack Up Lv. 3, worth another 15% player attack.
An accessory that raises Attack.
Defense Up Lv. 4 for you and Pal Defense Up Lv. 4 for the active pal. It compounds with the defensive half of Orserk stacks.
An accessory that greatly raises your Defense, and that of the Pal fighting alongside you.
Extends roll and sidestep invincibility by 20%. Shotgun range means you are inside every telegraph.
An accessory that extends the invincibility period of rolls and sidesteps.
Attack food, and armor chosen for rarity. There is no defensive party slot here, so the gear is carrying that job alone.
Rarity beats the roll. If two pieces tie, take the one that rolled attack.
Worth 20% attack. Attack and defense food replace each other, so pick attack.
Now with cheese, this dish has reached the highest level of fine cuisine. Eating it will increase Attack by +20% and stay full longer for a period of time.
Worth 25% attack for a much harder recipe.
A dish made by simmering vegetables and meat with spices. The rich flavor is highlighted by large chunks of tender meat. Eating it will increase your Attack by 25% for a period of time.
Craft one before committing to a stat spread.
A potion that allows the player to reset their status points when consumed. It has no effect if consumed by a Pal.
Attack first as usual, but health matters more here than in the ranged builds because a shotgun forces you into the fight.
The whole build is one rule with a few consequences: keep bullets landing. Everything good in this party is downstream of sustained fire.
Solenne pays nothing if two pals share a species. The default lineup satisfies this and the buff disappears silently rather than warning you.
Orserk stacks build one per landed bullet up to 30, and each stack is worth 5% Attack and Defense to the active pal at rank 5. There is no faster way to reach the cap than a full magazine into a large target.
Each stack expires five seconds after it was applied, so a long reload bleeds the ramp you just built. This is why Frostplume 50% reload speed is a core slot and why Reload Master is a core passive rather than an optional one.
The stacks land on whichever pal is currently fighting beside you, not on a fixed target. Field the pal you want to become a second carry and leave it out, rather than swapping and resetting the ramp.
Vanwyrm Cryst adds 30% to 50% on weak-point hits. Shotgun spread makes this less reliable than with a rifle, but at close range a centred shot still lands most of its pellets on the target head.
Shot-Nyan Mode runs 10 seconds on a 120-second cooldown, so it fires roughly five times in a ten-minute fight. Hold it for a phase where the boss is stationary rather than pressing it on cooldown.
This lineup is one slot different from its previous version, and the reason is an uptime calculation that the old page never ran.
The case for it
Xenolord raises the Partner Skill damage of weapon-wielding pals by 20% at rank 1 and 50% at rank 5, the largest single percentage available to this party.
In this lineup the only weapon-wielding pal is Nyafia, and its Shot-Nyan Mode runs 10 seconds on a 120-second cooldown. That is roughly 8% uptime, so a 50% buff to it is worth about 4% of a fight, and it costs a level-60 raid to obtain. Vanwyrm Cryst 30% to 50% applies to every weak-point hit with every gun for the whole fight. Xenolord stays as an alternate for players who have already built around the burst window.
The case for it
Nyafia, Xenogard, Robinquill and Pupperai all carry the same effect type at 10% to 35%, and different species normally stack, so carrying two should double it.
The effect type is shared but the condition is not: Nyafia covers shotguns, Xenogard energy weapons, Robinquill bows and Pupperai melee. Only the one matching your equipped weapon pays. The single exception is the Beam Scatter, which is both a shotgun and an energy weapon, so Nyafia and Xenogard genuinely do both fire on it.
The case for it
Orserk stacks are described as Attack and Defense from your bullet hits, which reads like a self-buff on the shooter.
The effect targets the active pal, not the trainer. Your bullets are the trigger and your pal is the recipient. This is the single most misread line in the build, and it is why the guide keeps insisting the two damage lanes are separate.
The case for it
A plasma rifle out-damages every shotgun in the game and has a 38-round magazine, which would ramp Orserk faster and let you fight at safe range.
A defensible build, but it is a different one: Nyafia 35% is shotgun-only, so you would be playing four slots instead of five. If you want the rifle, swap Nyafia for Xenogard and accept that this becomes an energy-weapon party rather than a shotgun one.
Four of the five are ordinary catches or breeds. Orserk is the one that takes real effort, and it is the slot the build is named around.
Keep the build's identity while adapting the lineup to the pals you own or the encounter ahead.
Solenne raises your Attack, Frostplume your reload speed, Nyafia your shotgun damage and Vanwyrm Cryst your weak-point damage. Only Orserk points at the pal: it converts your bullet hits into Attack and Defense stacks on whichever pal is fighting beside you. Keeping those lanes straight is the main thing this build asks you to understand.
Each bullet you land grants the active pal Attack and Defense for five seconds. The per-stack value rises from 1% at rank 1 to 5% at rank 5, and it stacks up to 30 times, so a fully condensed Orserk is worth 150% Attack and Defense to your pal at the cap. A second carrier of the same effect does not add a separate stack pool.
Uptime. Xenolord raises the Partner Skill damage of weapon-wielding pals, and the only one in this party is Nyafia, whose Shot-Nyan Mode runs 10 seconds on a 120-second cooldown. That is about 8% of a fight, and Xenolord costs a level-60 raid to obtain. Vanwyrm Cryst pays 30% to 50% on every weak-point hit with any gun, all fight. Xenolord is still listed as an alternate.
Yes, more than in any other gun build. Orserk stacks expire five seconds after they are applied, so reloading is not just lost damage, it is lost pal buff. Frostplume 50% and five copies of Reload Master for another 20% together are what let you hold near the 30-stack cap instead of rebuilding it every magazine.
You can, but you give up Nyafia 35%, because that bonus is shotgun-specific. If you want a rifle, swap Nyafia for Xenogard and run it as an energy-weapon party. The one weapon that satisfies both is the Beam Scatter, which the game files tag as a shotgun and the community treats as an energy weapon.
The Prototype Shotgun for raw damage at 1,167 listed attack, or the Beam Scatter for uptime. The Beam Scatter hits softer at 508 but carries 30 rounds against the Prototype 12, which means a much longer unbroken Orserk ramp, and it is the one shotgun Xenogard also pays out on.
